Not even 1 STAR!!! POOREST EVER!! dis-tasty food, rude manager, and dishonest server. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good until we order the food. The food wasn't that tasty and small amount for the price (half price=half size). In addition, I put the tip as cash (18%of the price) but the server put more dollars to my credit card, and they didn't really try to solve this issue-. Bad attitude- more

My Favorite Sushi Place in Cincy 1/28/2011

I went to Dancing Wasabi about a year ago for the first time and I go whenever I can. I would suggest it to anyone and everyone looking for sushi in Cincinnati. They have half price Sushi Mon-Sat 5pm-2am, so the price is very reasonable. If you go Thurs-Sat it is hard to get a seat later in the evening, usually they have a line out the door. The other thing about seating that at first I didn't like, but now I think is kind of neat is that if you are willing, because of the limited seating they will sit you with another party so you have to share your table with strangers. But as for the Sushi its self, its the best. I love their Dragon Roll, Hot Mama, and the Sunday Morning Roll is a must have. I have never had a problem with the service. The female server that works there is funny, she always remembers me when I come in which is one thing that would keep me coming back to any restaurant. more

very disappointed 5/3/2010

Heard so many people say this was a good place - was really surprised at the low quality sushi - and the way inflated prices. It's easy to do half price when tiny California rolls are going for 6 bucks and and signature rolls pushing 20 bucks. My wife and I started with 4 pieces each of ngiri and a couple of rolls - just to test the quality before ordering more. I've eaten sushi dozens of times all over the world - and this was the worst. Didn't taste fresh at all, tiny portions - and worst of all, didn't seem to be rolled in sushi rice - seemed like very low quality bulk rice was used, and wasn't fully cooked or tightly rolled. Pros: lively atmosphere, hip crowd, helpful waiter Cons: very low quality food, very overpriced more

Fabulous food 12/28/2008

I had never been a sushi person before I went to Dancing Wasabi. The food is amazing, particularly the specialty rolls, and after heading there with friends for the first time this past summer, I visit as often as I can. My gay friends have never had problems with any of the staff, either. The wait for a table can be long at times, particularly on half price night and prime time on the weekends, so reservations in advance are a good idea if you have a large group. The service is decent on busy nights, but it is better when the place isn't packed. Personally, I've never had a bad service experience thus far. I've also done call ahead takeout, which is super convenient when you don't want to eat by yourself or don't want to wait for a table. Some of these other reviews seem to have obtuse expectations of small, busy establishments. Anyone expecting short wait times without a reservation or super-attentive servers when there isn't an empty seat in the house is just looking for a reason to complain about something. If the management ever decides to buy out the Subway next door and double its seating, I think that would solve table wait issues that we all experience, but until then, call ahead for a table or go on off peak hours if you want to speed things up. The food is worth the wait either way. Pros: Sushi variety, sake menu, half price night, takeout available, reservations Cons: neighborhood parking, limited seating, occasional wait for a table on peak nights more

Good food, poor service 4/23/2008

I have been to Dancing Wasabi twice, and both times have been impressed with the quality of the sushi, especially given that the rolls are relatively inexpensive. I especially enjoyed the special rolls, like the dragon roll. However, as others have expressed, the service is less than stellar. On our first visit, the GM would only seat us if we promised to leave the table within an hour of being seated. Although the food was great, if you don't feel like eating and running, this might not be the place for you! more

Once great, Now average 4/14/2008

We used to live around the corner and absolutely loved the quality of sushi and the fun loving atmosphere, going at least once a week for the first year. Have since moved away and went back tonight, the sushi was at best average and when politely asked the management ""Rob"" about any changes that might be causing this he basically snubbed and ignored the issue.. Unfortunately do to the poor quality and the elitist attitude from Rob, we will not be returning or recommending this establishment, Sorry Charlie. Pros: once the best sushi in town, and charlie Cons: bad sushi and bad GM more

Could be better 4/7/2008

As sushi places go not bad. My wife did not like the spicy tuna roll but I did. Tuna was chopped before being tossed in the spicy sauce. She ordered a roll off the special list (Bengal) and it was pretty good. All in all the food was up to par. The service on the other hand stunk. We had to ask for water refills and alcohol refills. It was early in the evening and we were the only table there for a good 15 minuets. When we left there were only three other tabels and they seemed to have the same problem. Go to Dancing Wasabi, food is worth the trouble. Pros: Good food Cons: Having to pray for a good server more

Dancing Wasbi...I wish I had danced out before I spent money there... 3/6/2008

I dined at Dancing Wasabi last night 3/5/2008 at about 8 pm. The place was packed, we were quoted a table 30 minutes for a party of 8. We ordered drinks, and a few sides of edaname. The sushi was average, the wait staff was pleasant enough. A older man whom everyone called ""Charlie"" came by our table. He made a comment about me being gay which was highly offensive. He also made other rude comments about my sexual orientation that I found highly offensive. I should have replied back with a rude comment about his poor English or his obviously foreign birth but I didn't. I will definately not ever dine at Dancing Wasabi again. I perfer to spend my money where I am not insulted while I am dining out. I would highly recommend all gays/lesbians avoid this places since the owner obviously has problems with gay people. You can get better sushi and better treatment elsewhere. Pros: Crowded, seemed a decent hip younger type of place. Cons: Rude owner, said very offensive gay slurs! more

Sushi Charlie Rules!!!! 11/29/2007

Killer sushi!! Tough to find great sushi in the Midwest, but Dancing Wasabi has it. Sushi Charlie is fun and creative. He did a 40 glass sake bomb and passed out shot's. Great experience, lot's of fun. I spent the last 15 years in food and beverage and have been to dozens of sushi bar's. I will definantly go back. Pros: Sushi and Environment Cons: get there before it fills up. Parking is rough. more

location is everything when it comes to.....food? 11/11/2007

Too much Korean influence on most of the dishes. They would be better off as a Korean place serving Japanese food on the side. Nothing outstanding. Two stars just because service was good. Pros: Location, business hours Cons: Food more

good over all! 10/5/2007

I love it..great sushi for being in the midwest. fish was very fresh! i was just a little disappointed that i was seated in the front by the window, and i was able to look out and watch my waiter and other employees having there cigarrette breaks. more

Best Sushi in Cincinnati 12/10/2006

Excellent service and always fresh fish. The chef is very friendly and will be more than helpful in choosing your selection and giving advice on the best fish for the day. Might not be the restaraunt of choice if you are a superficial sushi fan, there is no dark lighting with black clad waiters and new wave music...just the best sushi in town and good service. If you are in it for the fish this is the place to go, if you are a liberal snob then choose beluga and you should consider moving to California. more

Typical Mid-West Sushi 12/26/2005

Sushi Ray is a really cool name, however, the sushi was just average for Cincinnati. If you are from the East/West coast you will not like this place nor most of the other sushi places in town. I would like to see the sushi just a little fresher. It just did not seem to have much flavor. The staff is nice and welcoming. The music, well, I just don't get it. I can describe it besides, grating. With a name like this you would would except something a little contemporary. Bottomline, good local place for a quick sushi fix but don't get too excited. Pros: Name, service more
