Ohemgee Perfection 9/28/2011

My daughters and I were brought here by a friend who is a local. That was three months ago and I'm *still* craving these cupcakes! We ordered The Gay...a rainbow cupcake in honor of Gay Pride Week. The staff were professional, courteous, and patient as I explained the point. Besides the excellent, friendly service and clean, pleasant atmosphere, the cupcakes are UH-MAZING. My only regret is that I only ordered one. :( more

Hello July, and Hello Strawberry 66! 7/2/2010

I come here for the cupcakes and today I came specifically for the flavor of the month - Strawberry 66 - I've waited all year! Better yet, I got it free when I bought a coffee. Life is good. Now to review my lovely baked good: the strawberry frosting is delicious, the white cake, a bit dry as is my usual complaint. the service - awesome! I love the people at CR, they make me smile. the Batista are quick n good, they can talk and make the coffee - talk about multi-tasking! Sunday I'll grab me a super yummy mixed pack of these delicious cakes. the only thing that could eat this is frosting my own WITH the cream cheese frosting. a girl can dream. more

What a Cupcake Should Be 3/27/2010

With cupcake shops opening up every other month, how does one not only compete, but open up numerous locations? The Cupcake Royale way. \r \r To do it Royale you need dense moist cake, thick buttercream frosting, and an atmosphere that feels more like a diner than a bakery.\r \r You can't help but smile glancing in the case at the shades of pastel frosting, with such flavors as the heavenly Coconut Bunny, the decadent Salted Caramel, and my favorite, the Dance Party with Holly Hobbie - cupcake perfection. \r \r You'll leave chanting their slogan: ""legalize frostitution."" Pros: frosting, atmosphere, fun more

Great Service 10/22/2009

Perhaps it's my own preference for fluffy cupcakes, but when I had their Red Velvet, I found that it was very dense. While it was very flavorful, I just didn't like that it resembled a pound cake to me. Pros: Wonderful Service Cons: Dense Cupcakes more

Great cupcakes and community support 7/6/2009

upcake Royale has the best cupcakes in town and they are the most philanthropic and socially just company around. Jody Hall and her team are always looking for new ways to engage the community in social activism. Their latest endeavor was as the lead sponsor of the Equalityoga event on June 27th. As part of their sponsorship package they gave away several thousand cupcake cards, outfitted 40+ volunteers and helped promote the event. They are deeply committed to offering delicious products (mmmmmm cupcakes), the best coffee, health-care benefits and making sure that all people are safe and protected by law as individuals and couples. Cupcake Royale is quality through and through. Pros: Yummy cakes and generous community spirited business more

Horrible cupcakes 10/4/2008

My husband and I went to Cupcake Royale for the first time this week to celebrate a birthday with friends. The atmosphere was great, the espresso was great, the cupcakes were terrible. They were beautiful, the frosting was good and not too sweet, but the cake was the dryest cupcake I've had in my life. It was also flavorless. We went in the late afternoon so I'm assuming the cupcakes weren't at their freshest but these were more like three day old cupcakes. We won't be going back, needless to say. more

Sooooo yummy!!! 2/15/2008

I love this place! The ballerina cupcake is my personal favorite. The icing is the best I think I've ever tasted. I used to dislike the way the icing doesn't come to the edges of the cupcake leaving a slightly tough/chewy border, however, it's grown on me and I eat the icing-less border first (which is super good in itself) and save the best part for last! These cupcakes taste like old- fashioned goodness. \r Also, the place is roomy with lots of tables and an eclectic, fun ambience with great art on the walls. Great place to sit back, relax with coffee & cupcake in hand and watch the neverending line of cupcake devotees. more

Deadly Deathcake Royale 2/11/2008

I just checked this place out last Saturday. The place was packed full of cafe-goers and customers who were buying the good stuffs for to go. I loved the atmosphere of the cafe: old-school, funky, and energetic. I had a chocolate cupcake, a lavender cupcake, a vanilla cupcake. I also bought the Deathcake Royale for to go. I have to say that the frosting for all the cupcakes I tried was supreme. Not to sweet, but light and airy. I especially liked the lavender frosting, it's fragrant and unique. What I didn't like was how crumbly the chocolate cake was, and a bit dry. I was expecting the cake itself to be mosit and fluffy. The white cake tasted eggy, but it's indeed moist. The best thing that they offered was, hats down, the deathcake royale. It's a decadent chocolate cake, with moist chocolate cake and ganache covering the cake. It's not overly sweet at all despite its richness. I love it, altough it's quite on the expensive side: $6 for a piece of cake. Pros: Good frosting, friendly staff and atmosphere Cons: Eggy, crumbly cakes more

Best cupcakes anywhere! 1/14/2008

I have been to their Ballard location on four different occassions with four different individuals and every single time their cupcakes have been outstanding! We are planning on ordering their cupcakes for our daughter's wedding this summer and a small cake for cutting.\r \r I have also been to two other businesses in the city, who specialize in cupcakes and they dont even come close. Their hot chocolate is to die for! This is just my opinion, but from the big crowds that are frequent to this location, I would say that they also agree more
