Crazy Gideon's is an electronics store in Downtown LA, specifically located in the Arts District, which does the store justice because Gideon provides the most creative electronics buying experiences you'll probably ever have. The company is a retailer and wholesaler of new and used electronics. Crazy Gideon's is best known for its commercials that air on tv where the owner, Gideon Kotzer, seems like he's going crazy and just giving away all his merchandise. I recommend Yelping the cafes, restaurants, and bars around the area. Novel Cafe is across the street, Urth Cafe is down the street, and Wurstcuche is very close too (beer/wine). Best part about Crazy Gideon's is that it's not like a Best Buy, insofar as you can negotiate a deal for your electronics. If you like to negotiate, this is the place to be, especially since they also do wholesale. I think their web-site is currently down. I may be biased because I do help rent the space, but I think people don't realize what they're dealing with- thus, my explanatory review :) If you stop by the store, you might meet Gideon or see him screaming on the store intercom, "What do you want from my life?!" lol more

Gideon's Pricing 6/21/2009

When I was looking for a home theatre setup I went to Crazy Gideon's. For the setup I was looking at I went the Internet first to check prices. When I got to the store I was amazed to find the prices were actually slightly higher than even the company's prices. In talking to a salesperson he tried this crap about, "Yeah, but you have to pay for shipping." I told him that even with the shipping it's cheaper than what you're asking. It looks like the old "foot-in-the-door" sales pitch: Drop the price (which this salesperson wouldn't do) making the customer think he was getting such a deal and then bring in other items thus pushing the sale up much higher than the customer even considered. But this salesperson wasn't even good at that! more

Get in Combat Mode if You Decide to Shop Here 8/21/2005

I only went to Crazy Gideon’s because my handyman recommended it as a place to get a reasonably priced refrigerator. You really have to get in combat mode to go here—the salespeople are the hard-sell pushy type (they make used car salespeople look like wimps) and the place is crowded and dingy. That said, I did get a decent deal. I researched well before I went, checking out my options at all the top chains, and got a name good refrigerator at a price $200 lower than what I could elsewhere. You MUST haggle if you go here (my handyman told me that I needed to get them down to 30 percent of their price to get a deal). It was worth it--I got the refrigerator I wanted at a price I liked, but I doubt I’d go back to get anything else. Most of their selection is junk, and it’s not a pleasant shopping experience. more

Old school 8/20/2005

When I saw their ads on television, I went straight to its store hoping to get some cheap items. I was disappointed because it was like in a warehouse store, and the items were stacked up high. Worst of all, the items they were selling was of lowest quality, items that were out of date. I do not recommend this store, unless you want low price old technology. more

Crazy Deals on Older Technology 8/19/2005

Crazy Gideons is located in downtown Los Angeles. They carry stereos, electronics, and home appliances. The first time I heard about them was watching one of their television commercials. One day I finally checked out the store when I happened to be in the area. I did find some rather spectacular prices on electronics, but most of these tended to be older models that had been out for quite a while. The bottom line is if you are not looking for the latest technology, then you can get some pretty good deals. more

Crazy! 8/17/2005

The guy from Crazy Gideon is my role model! haha j/k. But yeah, the store does have some decent deals but if you're looking for a more legitimate business store front, then you're better off going to one of the more corporate chains such as Best Buy. The only reason I ever went was because of the funny commercials they used to have on late night TV for this place. more

Mixed feelings 8/10/2005

Crazy Gideon's is a huge electronic shop located in Los Angeles. They every kind of electronic you can thing of. They have a huge selection of TV's, cameras, dvd players and computers. They prices are great a Crazy Gideon's but you get what you are paying for. The cheap prices are of not so well named brands. If you are in the market for any new electronic product check out Crazy Gideon's. You might find some thing you were looking for at a cheaper price than in normal stores. more

Crazy... 8/9/2005

There's a reason why it's called Crazy Gideon's. What they'd like you to believe is that the Crazy stands for their crazy affordable pricing. I say they're just plain crazy. I passed by here last summer and decided to stop in and see what they sold. The place was decent enough, but they didn't sell very high quality products. I would just go to Best Buy, because at least you'll know they sell legit products. more

Only go here if you're low on cash... 7/23/2005

If you're not afraid of downtown L.A. .. - and there really isn't a reason to be - then stop by here. Everythings at discount prices.. And you can haggle.. Only bad thing is that what you buy usually doesn't last long without breaking.. I came here for a second Xbox controller at a cheap price. I went to Gideon's to see if they had a better price than the $30-40 in the stores. Only worked for a few months and would never work again. I paid $13 and, well, you get what you pay for. more
