COMPUTER OVERHAULS ROCKS!!! 12/22/2011

Last week.. I was in search of a new laptop. That didn't cost very much. However, I stumbled upon this place called, Computer Overhauls... I remembered a friend told me about this place. Anyway, I went in. I was helped immediately.. I was helped picking a laptop for my needs. I bought the Dell 610. I must say, It works great.. Its fast and they very helpful. Very good service!!! more

WORST SERVICE EVER 6/23/2011

My computer has been having all kinds of trouble to the point where I could not pull up any of my applications. I bring my laptop to them and after their ""diagnostic"" I'm told I need a full overhaul of my laptop. I come back after about a month of them having it to pick it up. Since then I have been back and forth at least 5 times with either the same problems or new problems after they claimed they fixed it. I even get argued with and talk down to about a problem with my sound that I did not have when I brought the laptop in the first place. It is still crashing, checking disks, freezing, (all the things I complained about from inception) all of a sudden I need a new hard drive. Their service is AWFUL. I am still dealing with them about this laptop. I'm even writing this from my ITouch because my laptop crashed 3 times today alone. I will NEVER refer this place if it was the last repair place in NYC. I will buy a MAC and lifetime warranty before I ever go back to this place. more

my life saver! 2/25/2011

refereed here by the Apple Store 14th street because my hard drive had failed and the genius bar said they couldn't recover my data. THANK GOD I FOUND THIS PLACE! they literally saved my life and my course work! they gave my drive a free diagnostic, no hassle at all, and within 2 days i got a call from the data recovery technician explaining all of my options. i got ALL of my data back for $349, wayyyy less than techserve charged my roommate for the same kind of failure. they are by far the BEST DATA RECOVERY PLACE IN ALL OF NYC! and so helpful too. ask for Yurie, he's a GOD SEND! ? more

WOW!!!!! 2/12/2011

Man, I really thought this place was going to be ""bait and switch."" Glad i was wrong. I had 250 dollars to my name, when my net book broke down. i needed a computer fast. Luckily I was going to the city the next day anyway, and decided it wouldn't hurt to try. LOL Cynic that I am, I thought the cute sales girl was going to try to sandbag me. Again I was wrong. She never tried to ""sell"" me anything. She was knowledgeable, nice, and sympathetic to my plight. I wound up taking the $149 Dell advertised. It works great! I did take the warranty, just in case. I figure if I get a year out of it, I'll be more than happy. These people do what they say. They refurbish computers and sell them at a great price. I'll assume repair service is just as efficient. They have a customer and someone who will gladly promote them! more

I noticed they fix both Mac and PCs, which is nice, and they’ll also buy your computer from you if you’re looking to sell it. My computer had a hard drive issue and they were able to recover most of my data and get it back up and running. On a scale of 1-10 Service: 7 Speed: 5 Price: 2 (expensive!) I think I’ll be looking for a new tech support company the next time I have computer problems… Pros: Recovery, kinda Cons: Speed and price more

fix any mistake 4/16/2010

i bought a laptop from them back in january, one of their ibms. and it was working fine until a few days ago when i was getting weird date errors when i started it up. so i came by and showed it to them. i wasnt under warranty or anything but they fixed the problem without charge anyhow. it was really nice of them. I wanted to buy a refurbish mac laptop, but they were all sold out. i was about to leave, but then they asked what i use the cpu for. when they found out i just need internet and word, they suggest i get their 279 dell. so i went with it and saved a couple hundred buck, and i love my new dell :) Pros: very honest Cons: didnt have mac in stock! more

i went in thinking there was some sort of virus that was preventing me from going online. they looked at my computer and did their free diagnostic right there on the spot for me. turns out my wireless hardware was turned off! they didnt charge me a dime, and i was on my way. i will definitely be sending them my friends Pros: helpful, smart, nice more

my poor macbook got knocked off my night table (damn you new puppy!) and stopped working. took it to apple and they told me i had to replace the ""logic board"" and would cost an arm and a leg... they suggested i take it to computer overhauls. im glad they did since they ended up charging half the cost of apple. they said it would take 5-7 business days, but they finished in just 3! my macbook is working like new again.. and the pup stays away from it Pros: knowledgeable, affordable Cons: none i can think of more

Great used computers 7/25/2009

Over a year ago I bought a refurbished laptop from computer overhauls and I have to admit, I didn't think that it was going to last me this long...and it has. I found the guys to be patient, knowledgeable and fair. Even now, as I'd like to get a new laptop. I keep thinking why? This one is working great. If you don't have the cash to buy something new, definitely go to these guys. Pros: good quality long lasting computers more

Best Computer Repair Store in NYC - highly recommended 1/9/2009

I walked into store on Dec 25, 2008. They give me a very fair repair evaluation but also give other option so I even don't have to repair my notebook. I saved $300 dollars!\r Thank you! \r P.S. They have a great selection of used notebook with price range $200 - $700. You can get from Dell to MacBook. So if you don't have burget but still need a notebook, their store will be a better option than you buy an used one online. Pros: Close to subway station. A great store Cons: Nothing to complain. more

cheapest iPod battery service in NYC 10/1/2007

This review can be summed up as this: put a new battery in my iPod for 32 bucks. Compared to the 70 that the apple guys want this is a steal. Walk in service to boot. Don?t waste your money at apple, they already got you once. Pros: quick service, cheap Cons: not street level more

good service, nice cheap computers 9/25/2007

Brought in a piece of garbage IBM that they diagnosed as a failed motherboard. Rather than recommend that I throw money at that one they sold me one they had for only 200 bucks. Laptop certainly isn?t the best computer in the world but they gavme me 20 bucks for my broken old and transferred my files for me for FREE. I thought that was pretty good of them. Defintely recommended if you just need a basic laptop and don?t have much to spend. Good sercvie. Pros: cheap computers, good service Cons: no street location more

Solid Service for Macs 9/25/2007

I own a Macbook Pro (one of the really nice ones) and one day at breakfast my son knocked it off the table, cracking the screen in the process. I took it to the Mac place in town but they wanted around 800 dollars to fix it! Even worse it was going to take two weeks. That?s when I called these guys. They were able to fix the screen for only $550 and it only took 5 days. Service was good and my laptop was put back together well, only minor scuffing around the case. Went to these guys after I dropped my computer. Within a couple of days they installed a new keyboard that worked as well as the last one. A bit pricey but good service. Pros: Fast , Good Quality Cons: Expensive more
