Best

The College Inn Pub is my favorite place to go on Friday afternoons. My boyfriend and I usually order a pitcher of beer and an order of nachos--nachos which, by the way, are the b...

This place has changed 3/20/2006

Since the no-smoking ban went into effect, this place is just not the same. It's just not hazy enough when you descend the stairs and the crowd is different now too. It's still a fun place to go for a beer in the U-District - probably my favorite on the Ave. They've got darts, pool, and a good juke box, plus they have deals on appetizers in the afternoons. It's the darkest bar around, since it's mostly underground. They also have a back room that you can reserve for parties I think. more

Pretty dank, but good beer 11/2/2005

This bar definitely hasn't changed at ALL for the 5 years I have gone there, so something tells me it's been that way for a long time. It's got a fair amount of tables, pool and darts and that's about it. They do have some good rotating taps, and it's definitely a place you can have a conversation without yelling, so that's always a plus. If you want a chill night out, this definitely could be your spot. Beware of parking around there, it can tend to be very difficult. more

The College Inn Pub 8/20/2005

Frequented by many of the students of the nearby University of Washington, the College Inn Pub sports a collection of mediocre bar food but a decent beer selection. Crowded during the school year, vacant during the summer. It's downstairs, so don't expect much sunlight, but that shouldn't matter for seattle anyways. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
A staircase descent leads directly to a turret-like bar, which shares a room with a pair of pool tables and a few clusters of motley university sorts--haggled overachievers who can't put aside their notes even while drinking, chess combatants, lonely souls engrossed in "Star Wars" novels and perma-sodden ball-capped dudes. The cozier place to be, though, is in the low-lit back room that features comfortably weathered wooden booths engraved with graffiti that ranges the full spectrum of profundity.

    The Draw
A frequently rotating roster of microbrews, complemented by a full bar and decent pub grub (half-price nachos on Monday), offers ample incentive to visit, but it's the sturdy environs and low-key atmosphere that provide the greater comforts here. The charm extends beyond the student body--professors and informed outsiders also make up a sizable chunk of the clientele.
