We read many positive reviews about Cavatore. Our experience was far from positive. Good things about the place: interesting atmosphere--old Italian movie posters, illustrations, and photos, strangely intermingled with local business signage. Live piano music and singing was nice. The service was very good. The food was another story. Everything we ordered and attempted to eat was a far cry from good authentic Italian cuisine. The salad's vinaigrette was mouth-puckeringly sour. The frutti de mare plate was devoid of flavor, the mussles were bad and the scallops overcooked. The snapper (should be called Sun Dried Tomatoes with Side of Snapper) was not worth finishing or taking home, and the eggplant parmigiana wasn't fully cooked and was covered with an incredibly disagreeable sweet sauce. The prices were outrageous ($9-$23) for the quality of the food we ordered. We will not be returning.
Pros: ambiance, service
Cons: expensive, bad food
