Fantastic food and wonderful service! 1/27/2011

I have been going to Cavatore Italian Restaurant for over 10 years and have always gotten delicious food and great service. The manager, Federico Cavatore, is a gracious host and always makes me feel very welcome and special. The waiters are also very friendly and quick to take care of me. It is my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston. Needless to say, I have never been disappointed! The caesar salad is to die for and the pasta pescatore is divine! more

Excellent Food and Service! 1/19/2011

I think I picked the the perfect place for my husband's 40th birthday surprise when I decided on Cavatore. The entire staff was inviting and completely helpful throughout planning the night. Then when the evening rolled around, it went off without a hitch. All 15 or so guests were kept happy with drinks and a wonderful meal. I absolutely loved the food and our delightful server, Ana! Even the kitchen staff stepped in to help prevent a birthday cake catastrophe! We will surely be back! more

Not a good place 1/4/2011

Cavatore has been in business for as long as I can remember. I grew up in this part of town so I decided to try it. The host was rude and the food was of mediocre to poor quality. it's a shame that a place so close to home has to be so bad. more

This guys calls himself the owner. You have to be kidding me! 11/8/2010

My wife and I have being going here for years because of the charm of the place even though we have always felt the service was lacking. However our visit Friday night was horrible! Not only were we ignored by the waiter. We did finally get to order food only to wait over 35 mins for it.When I finaly got fed up & told them to cancel my food. The Manager/Owner (Federico Cavatore) was down right unbelievably disrespectful. When I wouldn't agree with him, he got furious! I will never return to this restaurant!!!!! more

Bad Experience- Won't Go Back 10/23/2010

Last month my sister, husband and I decided to take our 84 year old dad to a special evening. We went to Cavatore early before the crowd. We were placed in a small room in the front of the restaurant. Our waiter was also serving a group in the private room directly in front of the door. Our waiter greeted us and never came back with our drinks. My sister went to the bar to get our tea and wine. We were never served bread until we got up and asked another server to get us some. Our food was o.k. but remember this was a celebration. (Dad out of the hospital). When we waved to our waiter to please give us water, he made faces, like we were bothering him. We asked to see the dessert tray and that was like asking for blood. The dessert arrived later and then the coffee. We paid and left. In the car we discussed how poorly the service was and my sister decided to make a call, just to let them know .Not trying to get anything from them.. She left a message and the owner called and apologized and invited us to come back…. Well we hesitated but went….WELL the owner was not there and the manager treated us like we were lying. She asked to see our statement from when we were there and had us wait until she verified it. She asked us to wait until her assistant arrived, which all he did was walk passed us without saying a word. By then we were not happy. We told her to just give us the bill. So she deducted what we had spent the last time and had us pay for the remaining balance. We told her that we were not the kind of people that would try to lie to an establishment. The original owner told us by phone that this was a family owned restaurant and they survive by word of mouth and they were sorry for the bad service the first time. Well we will never go back and we will tell all our friends that they do not stand by their word. We left embarrassed and angry. more

Charming ambience, great food 6/12/2010

I recently dined at Cavatore for the first time after hearing about it on the Groupon site. I was very pleased with my experience. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and we jokingly asked for ""the best seat in the house."" The staff member (maybe a manager?) took us to one of the special enclosed seating areas and we loved our table. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the ingredients and all of the food/bev items on the menu. The restaurant was busy for dinner and we never felt that our service was compromised in any way. The food was tasty and we will definitely be going back for more! In the future, I'd like to go back with a larger group as the decor and ambience truly makes it a ""homey"" and friendly atmosphere. Pros: great decor, ambience, friendly staff, great tasting food Cons: can be pricey more

Most Expensive ""Pasta"" in Town 3/10/2010

Cavatore's has a lunch item, ""Gamberi Con Capesante"" for $9.00 on the lunch menu. It is sauteed shrimp & scallops with garlic & fresh herbs in lemon butter sauce. Pros: The Bread is Good Cons: Pricey Pasta more

Cavatore's has a lunch item, "Gamberi Con Capesante" for $9.00 on the lunch menu. It is sauteed shrimp & scallops with garlic & fresh herbs in lemon butter sauce. The dinner menu has "Gamberi Della Casa" for $20.00 which is sauteed shrimp & scallops in a garlic lemon butter sauce served on a bed of angel hair pasta. I ordered the lunch, Gamberi Con Capesante for $9.00 and asked if I could add a quarter cup of pasta. I was directed to the dinner item for $20.00. A quarter cup of angel hair pasta is not worth $11.00. After eating there may times, that was my final visit. Pros: The Bread is Good Cons: Pricey Pasta more

Having had my quota of rubber chicken during office holiday parties I never expect good food or service during such parties. Not at Cavatore! Great ambiance, food and service even during busy times. Pros: Food, service, ambiance... Cons: Parking is too small more

Italian Done Right!!! 12/9/2009

I LOVE this restaurant!! My family and I ate at Cavatore recently and it cemented the fact that it is my favorite Italian restaurant in Houston. Upon being seated we were given a warm basket of garlic bread. I wish I could tell you how it tasted, but my dad ate it all…. obviously, it was good. We ordered the Caesar Salad, which was made fresh at our table…YUM!!! I highly recommend it! I ordered the Rosemary Chicken and my parents enjoyed the Tournedos Di Manzo. For dessert we somehow saved room for Tiramisu and Cappuccinos--- how could you go wrong there??? All was amazing! What makes Cavatore really shine as an all in all STANDOUT experience is not just the food but the ambiance and the staff. I took my parents to Cavatore because I remembered that they had a live pianist. As always, it was a delight to eat and have the beautiful live music in the background. We were greeted by the host who seated us and went from table to table ensuring that everyone was happy with their experience. He took the time to talk to us about the restaurants history and the décor and so it turns out he was actually a Cavatore. It’s few and far between these days to eat at a family owned and operated restaurant. This is a restaurant for me which never disappoints. 5 stars! more
