Burrito Express 12/6/2006

Not what I expected at all.. I have heard such good things about this place but the payout just wasn't all that. This location is really just kind of a walk in stand. The inside was cold and uninviting. In fact on a December evening they keep the door open! There did not seem to be much activity going on. No smell of Mexican food cooking or even grills going. The tortilla chips are not fresh but from bags which were plainly in site and I have to also assume the tortillas were also not made on-site. Dont get me wrong. The food is very authentic and above average but I just could not get past the whole set-up even for a stand. I am a Mexican food fanatic and will likely give these guys another shot. Maybe I shall wait until it warms up!? more

Cheap, spicy and good 10/6/2006

Well, it ain't no World Wrapps with chic flavors, but it is authentic and good. For 7 bucks, you can get a nice burrito that tastes not of salt but really is spicy and the rice is tasty. The place is a complete whole in the wall, but they do have some stools, athough most folks seem to take their stuff and run. They have real mexican sodas too. I could be sick tomorrow, but I've eaten there twice and it is easy and cheap on Eastlake. more

Practically addictive 5/25/2006

This is one of those places that makes it really easy to be a vegetarian. There's no lard in the tortillas, and their veggie burritos are really good. I'm a pretty squeamish vegetarian, not wanting any meat to touch my food. I always feel pretty safe at this restaurant, which is saying a lot as you can see them preparing the food. Don't get me wrong, carnivores...Most of their menu is filled with meat in every variety! I'll let you in on my secret tip - make sure to go with the salsa verde - it's delicious and transforms an average burrito into something amazing. Although, I have to say, my omnivorous boyfriend swore by their veggie burrito as one of the best meals he could get his hands on. This is more of a take out place than a sit down restaurant. There are a few seats at counter space inside and out, but there aren't any tables. Because of it's take out set-up, this place probably isn't worth an extra drive. But if you're already in north Seattle, it's definitely worth stopping by. more

Really good, actually. 8/17/2005

I didn't expect much when I first stopped into Burrito Express except a fast meal so I could be on my way, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, and as the signs point out all over the store: "completely lard free!" Everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the service was fast and friendly. Large portions make for a satisfying meal. However, plan on eating standing up, there are only four or five seats. Plan on spending 7 bucks on a burrito worth 8. more
