What a fantastic Maternity Store 11/4/2007

A friend of mine from Vancouver recommended that I come down to buy maternity clothes in the states, and in particular, at Bump in Seattle. The clothes are great and. Looking at the store, I wouldn't even know that the clothes were maternity. Some of the brands that I am familiar with are there like Ripe (Australian) and Olian. There are also some newer brands like momzee and maternal America. The prices see reasonable although they are definitely more than a chain like tyme maternity (in Canada) or motherhood. Much better though. The store is something like an art gallery with many beautiful pictures of pregnant women from local photographers. They also sell strollers and I am planning and hoping to buy a bugaboo there because it is much cheaper in the states. It is also linked with pop tots which was a great surprise for me. One bummer is street parking and that is why I gave the store a 4 not a 5, although I was there on a Sunday and it was free. more

Nice idea...poor service 9/16/2007

My wife and I went into Bump today (9/16/07, around 3:30pm) to buy something for her sister. While we were struck by the small amount of inventory present on the floor, we were also impressed with the quality of the offering. However, what struck us most was the poor quality of service. There was what appeared to be an employee in the back of the store having an animated conversation with a friend. They glanced our way and then returned to their conversation. We were the only customers there. We walked around the store, going through the racks, talking about what we found there. No one spoke to us. Finally, I just stopped and stood in the center aisle and waited for someone to come acknowledge us. Then I moved to stand by the counter...the two at the back of the store continued their conversation. After 15 minutes - we finally gave up and left (which also did not even inspire a goodbye.) So : really nice selection...but until they install one of those "self-serve checkouts" like they have at Target, we would recommend giving it a miss. more

Poor service and selection 12/29/2006

I had a gift certificate to Bump and was excited to go splurge on a pair of nice maternity jeans, however I walked out of the store wishing that I didn't even have a gift certificate that I HAD to spend there. I was unimpressed with the small selection of jeans but most disappointing was the poor service I received. The salesperson almost made me feel like I was bothering her when I asked a question about sizes. I do feel that Seattle needs a hip maternity store, but unfortunately Bump lacks the selection and the service to earn a positive recommendation. more

stylish clothes and baby acoutrements 5/2/2006

i just discovered this little gem while out and about in the roosevelt district. small and tucked behind another store (Pop Tots) this hip little store has a nice range of trendy clothes for those sporting the maternal bump. prices looked reasonable from my quick pass and it looks to offer some excellent options for the more fashion conscious. since i'm expecting to finish up my pregnancy in the next week or two i didn't try anything on but i did give it a quick once over for the JB crowd. the store also has some fun artwork and gifts for new parents. one item i hadn't seen before is a well designed fleece jobie that wraps around a baby in a front carrier (baby bjorn). pocket for the feet, optional hood if the little tyke is facing mom or dad and long fleece fingers that wrap around and between the baby and parent to be tied at the babe's back. small pocket for a binky or keys and made from the softest fleece material out there. huge improvement over the ever-trailing and unraveling blanket cover-up. more
