This was our fourth or fifth time at Buca with a large, slightly rowdy party and they have never let us down.

Worst

We hadn't been in year - called on a Friday night at 6:30pm and the male manager said "totally open for 2, no wait!". We literally were in the front door 3 minutes later and were...

not good for picky eaters or kosher! 5/20/2005

I went there w/ a large group of people, all adults, amongst whom were a couple of guys with picky palates. We had to get a lot of food so that everyone could have something they liked, PLUS, I can't eat pork-- i'm not Jewish, just allergic. Everything had pork! All the meatstuff-- spagetti, meat manicotti, meatballs were mixed beef and pork, and the potatoes had bacon.... I was stuck eating cheese ravioli... oi the bloating! and the spicing involved is very bland. nothing very exciting. it was comfortable, though, and cute. would only reccomend if your party had similar palates. Great food...good for large parties. 11/20/2004

Finally a inexpensive italian restaurant in Austin that has great food. The dishes of course are large and made for 1+ but it is so inexpensive you just have leftovers for later. Service was great and the server was more than willing to answer questions and talk to the chef when we asked for a substitution. If your having a big party call and reserve the "pope" table that seats 20. It's also nice for a romantic dinner w/h your date. Pros: Awesome food, Large platters, Great for big parties more

REAL Italian Food 1/27/2004

This is my favorite restaraunt in all of Austin, which says a lot being that there's several great restaraunts here in Austin. The prices are great, the dishes are to die for and everyone that works there is very outgoing. You won't be disappointed with this pick. Mediocre food, Mediocre service 1/18/2004

I have worked in the food service industry for quite some time, but have never really been to a place like Buca Di Beppo before. A very interesting concept to serve in traditional family sized food portions like many Chinese restaurants, but the bulk food carried with it a bulk sized taste. From the Appetizer to the Entree, all the food seemed to be lacking any real taste. Additionally, despite being at the chef's table (in the kitchen) which requires reservations, the service was slow, and impersonal. I felt like I was at a Sonic driver through window. Despite this, the very tasty dessert known as the "Bella Festa" and reasonable price left my evening on a high note. Buca di Busto 10/2/2003

My husband and I had a very bad experience at Buca di Beppo. We had never been there before to the high concept dining establishment, and were suckered into buying an $8 pan of salty, nasty garlic bread. The entrees, mannicotti and spaghetti, were edible--but not better than I could have produced with a can of Ragu and a pot of good intentions. All in all, the place was all concept and no substance. Took my brother here for his birthday. was very dissapointed. Over priced under flavored food. Saw that this was listed as a romantic restaurant and that just made me laugh. more

Fun For Big Groups Only 5/16/2003

Bucca de Beppo serves Italian basics, in large quantities. And many of the dishes they make are surprisingly good (the enormous meatballs are wonderful). But do not come to this place as an individual or a couple. The food is served "family-style," which means it only makes sense if you come with a large party and plan to share everything. If you do that, the price per person can be surprisingly reasonable. Pros: Great for parties, Cheap, for big group, Good basic food Cons: Noisy, Campy decor, Not for small groups more

Superb Italian Group Dining 10/5/2002

Buca Di Beppo's is a great dining experience that is a blasy especially if you take a group. One serving of the $20 spaghetti is enough to feed 4 or 5 people which means you can all purchase more entrees and stilll pay around 10-12 dollars each for a god amount of food. When dinner needs to be fun 7/26/2002

This is really the best place to take people when your dinner should also be a good time. It just seems to come naturally with the family style dishes. I recommend the garlic mash potatoes. They have little pools of melted butter, which sounds disgusting, but it is really yummy and warm. It is a good companion to pasta. Have wine. Have coffee. Have the cannolis. It's just great. Don't order too much though. Be conservative. The food is ample, and your bill can pile up if you order more than you need. One pasta dish could serve several people!
