this man is the ... of pool building. cant be trusted and is a liar. complaints are met with anger and threats. this man must not be trusted. if you see this man open a business in a differrng city, BEWARE you will be ripped off more

We had the same terrible experiences with this company that everyone else is talking about. Do not hire this company to build a pool. The work Broadway pools did for us was horrible. Richard Leaf hires very cheap, unskilled labor. The workers even complained to us that he had not paid them. I am wondering what he did with the money we gave him??? Do not trust these people!! First, they excavated the pool (which was supposed to be done 60 days after excavation) and left a huge mound of dirt and rocks in our yard for over 6 months. After excavation, they hardly ever showed up to do work and then they stopped showing up all together. Richard made a bunch of new completion schedules and never stuck to any of them. After waiting more than 6 months for the pool to be built, we filed a complaint with the BBB. Instead of trying to take care of the problems, Richard threw a big temper tantrum and refused to do any more work. He called us liars, said he lost money on the job, and threatened us with slander charges. He must have a different definition of slander because everything stated was the truth. If his actions are not enough to sway you, here is a list of everything that is wrong with this unfinished pool. The sidewalk is wavy and of different widths.It needs to be ripped out and completely redone. They did not put expansion joints where the coping touches the concrete deck and 3 of the coping tiles cracked right away. The coping is crooked and looks so unprofessional that it needs to be redone. The tiles around the hot tub were not cut right and some of the tiles were missing. The pipes used under the pool are way too small. There are more defects, but these are just the major flaws. When Richard says to his customers that he lost money on the job, it is because the job was not done right to start with and needed to be redone. But then he does not redo anything anyway, so how can he be losing money? more

Just look at the overwhelming amount of stories, reviews and comments that shine a light on Broadway Pools etc. BBB of Austin is gold standard for where anyone looking for a pool should start. Claims Court, broken contracts, walking off the job and basically referring to paying customers as "liars" are common threads that speak volumes as to how this guy works. Go in another direction is you contract for a pool, you will thank me later... more

Richard is a liar and thief. He will take your money and not deliver. It is never his fault. His wife will support his every lie. He will threaten you and try to intimidate you. Check his arrest record, I believe it was assault. Check his past businesses that he has closed. All very shady. Do not use this man, wife, company for anything. I am going to post all email and texts communications when I get them organize. Then you will be able to form your own opinion. more

FACT: WE WON A JUDGEMENT AGAINST BROADWAY POOLS IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT!!!! The judge was so appalled he awarded all of our money back. Of course, Broadway pools refuses to pay, stating they do not have the assets or the means to settle. Yet, they continue to conduct business. They take shortcuts and do not perform the necessary repairs even when requested. They installed a liner that was the wrong size, then blamed us, saying they would replace it if I gave them another $750. They installed the liner over holes in the metal walls. The installers tried to cover the dirt holes with paint. They didn't show up with the necessary tools, nor enough vermiculite to complete The installation. They had to borrow our tools, paint and pool brush, which they ruined. The liner fell out from the top and proceeded to float in the pool. We had to purchase the bead lock and install, because they kept trying to use someone else's USED bead lock. They installed the liner over the hooks for the safety rope!!! Now the liner is getting a weird trail all over. Looks like trails of ink. Repeat we were award 3k+ and they refuse to pay claiming they don't have the money. Do you really want to do business with a company that doesn't even have 3k?? more

Contracted with Richard Leaf and Broadway Pools close to 2.5 years ago and pool is not completed including equipment delivery, decking, coping, warranty items, incompete permit /inspections. Essentially Richard, his wife Cindy and the project manager have walked off the job making many commitments to me, my wife and the Austin BBB. The BBB rating is labeled "revoked" based upon non-compliance of commitments (in writing) to me and the BBB. I am hearing more complaints weekly about Richard Leaf/ Broadway Pools and I can highly suggest to anyone considering contracting with this guy to save your money and look elsewhere for a pool project. Of Note: Richard does threaten his clients (at least me and my wife) should he answer the phone or return an email, which is rare. Look at the BBB complaints for yourself I have the emails and texts to prove it...Don't let me tell you I told you so.... more

1 starBroadway Pools has flat out refused to complete our pool which first payment made to Richard (The Owner) was in the end of December 2015. His last text / email chains to us was that he lost money on our job and has refused to meet or communicate with us a resolution. The following items on our contract were and will be never completed: This company his highly fraudulent and at time abusive when we would ask throughout the process when he or his crews would be coming to our house to do work. He is abusive and belittling to women and became resentful when we would ask for our "luxury item" to be completed. He threatened us telling us he was hiring a private investigator to research us and threatened to expose us if we gave bad reviews. This after we had already paid him and merely asked him to deliver what was promised for the advance of payment. WE HAVE KEPT EVERY PICTURE, EVER EMAIL, EVERY TEXT for proof. He continues to work and represent himself as a pool builder despite the fact that we have discovered several other homeowners that are experiencing the same pattern. Show up, complain about excuses and timelines, ask for money up front, not complete work and then send his wife online to cover their tracks. This company is criminal and should not be allowed to function as a business. If proof is required once Richard and his wife lie about the details of our contract and outcome, then please give me the opportunity to prove our story. At this point we are now trying to speak for everyone Broadway pools is screwing out of their hard earned money. more

My pump went out during the storms and I noticed this on Thursday the 9th of May 2016. I contacted Broadway Pools and spoke to Richard and Cindy that evening about it and they had Frank and his workers bring a compete new unit and install it the next day Friday 10th, 2016. All I had to do after that is get the pool ready over this weekend for my out of town guests that were coming on the 13th of this month. These folks are absolutely awesome. They bend backwards to satisfy their customers. I have been dealing with them since 2008 and they never disappoint. more

This has been a nightmare. Shoddy work that took 11 months to complete. Lies, broken promises and no respect for our home. They left our gate open on 3 separate occasions, after we had asked them not to because we have dogs in the yard. They only offer a 6 month guarantee, I do not think our pool will last 6 months. Do your research, I wish I had. more

I am just so happy with my new pool Broadway Pools built. Just in time for summer, can't wait for my grand kids and great grandkids to come and visit!! I come home and don't stay inside anymore, I love to go and sit out by my pool now!!! more
