I have zero issues with this joint, they always have my beer in stock and the staff are very courteous and helpful (hand-truck, or hand-carry my cases to my car). They have a very respectable selection too. I read the other reviewers comments about the kegs, I personally cannot comment on that aspect. more

I completely disagree with the other reviews I read. I had a good experience at Big Blue. The guy at the counter and the guy helping me load up the car were very courteous and nice. I actually dropped a case of beer outside, and they exchanged it for me, at no extra charge and no questions asked. The beer selection there is good, at good prices, and I know people who go there all the time for kegs, and they seem to like it there. I think it's a good beer store. One complaint is their hours...for some reason, it's closed on Sundays, and they close a bit early during the week, so if you try to go there after work at 7pm, they'll probably be closed. We shopped here a few times because it can be rather difficult to find beer in large quantities at other places in the neighborhood. Every time, the guy at the counter was unbelievably rude. He lied to my husband, telling him there was no parking for customers. But when asked about the lot next door, later said customers could park there. The last straw came when he refused to take back bottles and cans that were purchased there. Newsflash: that is against the law. I just hope the DEC reads this and the jerk gets what's coming to him. Seriously, support your local bodega owner. It may cost a buck more, but at least they will appreciate your business. I've rented Kegs from Big Blue Distributors twice now. The first time they rented me a defective tap without a rubber washer, essentially making the keg useless. (Without a rubber washer, the tap cannot maintain pressure which is required for beer to come out). The second time, they gave me a broken tub (which leaked all over my living room floor) and ANOTHER defective tap. This time the rubber washer was too small. I was only able to get the beer out if I had two people firmly pressing down, holding the tap in place. The means three people were required to get one beer out at a time. I did not receive a refund for the tub or the tap rental and was told that it was my fault, that I probably broke it, and that I should be lucky to get my full deposit back. BEWARE. If you are in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area, I recommend Beverage World on Meeker. The prices are comparable and they actually rent kegs/taps that work.
