I took 11.5 grams of solid 14k gold in there, (broken jewelry) and they offered me $180 after waiting through 3 other customers who came in after me. Maybe they didn't want to make such a ridiculously low offer in front of them. I now have items on a well known site and at this point I am going to get $340 and possibly more when all is said and done. I will not go back there and will let anyone who asks know how I feel. more

I have gone into their shop a couple of times, and I have decided that the young man they have there is rude, impatient, and not very nice at all. I bent over backwards being nice, and he won't even crack a smile. So I have decided that even though I live in West Seattle, I will be going to another coin shop to do my business from now on. He needs to take a class or move on. more

I took a 10k ring in to trade for cash. After taking a number and a short wait, I sat on a stool across from the older woman with the bee-hive hair style for the appraisal. She was all business as she weighed my ring then punched a bunch of numbers into a calculator. $285 she announced. I was pleasantly surprised at this high number. Something made me hesitant though. I thanked her for her time and proceeded to go outside to the curb and call my wife. After my wife agreed the price of $285 was fair, I proceeded back into the store. I had to take another number as the waiting room had filled up. When my number was called, I was then on a stool across from a 20-something young man. He took my ring, weighed it and punched numbers into a calculator. $360 he announced. Oh really? So in ten minutes time my ring increased $75 in value? I promptly said ""yes"" and took the cash. That was one valuable phone call I stepped out to make to my wife! So here is the deal, what you are offered from West Seattle Coin depends on who you get to do the appraisal. My recommendation is stay away from the older woman behind the counter with the bee-hive hair style. more

You've go to go see Phil!! He Rocks! 3/21/2012

Go see Phil! He was AWESOME! He's very knowledgeable and was sincerely honest. He'll answer all your questions respectfully. He didn't treat me like I didn't know anything, even though I didn't. He was laid back and very friendly! I had old jewelry that I knew I wouldn't wear again. There were small gold hoops that were broken, small bracelets and rings that I didn't think were worth much. Phil even bought the silver I had. Basically if it's real, they'll buy it- and NOT rip you off! I got over $700, when I didn't even think I'd get $500! Truly, Phil was GREAT! The chain I was wearing had a broken hook that I was thinking of just having soldered back together. He explained that it would probably cost me more to have it done, than getting a new one. So I decided to sell that tiny little 24k gold hook and got $64 for it! He even gave me a temporary fix for my chain until I could get it home and put a new hook on it. They don't normally do this- remember they are a coin shop not a jewelry store- but that's how COOL Phil was! If you think this is all an advertising ploy and hyped up- it's not. I totally trust Phil and W. Seattle Coin. It was well worth the drive from Tacoma and I know I won't be going anywhere else when I need to sell my precious metals and gems. Oh, he totally knows about collectable and rare currency/coins, too. I collect $2 bills and he explained/showed me the differences. He is after all a Professional Numismatist! Thanks again Phil! more

Great little coin shop! 10/11/2011

This is a great family owned business. They are all very honest and professional. I have dealt with them for years. With selling of buying they treat you good. I have sold much of my collection to them and they paid top dollar. I also use them to find more coins I am wanting and Jason has worked hard to get me what I want and for a good price. Bev is great too, Have known her for years and she is very friendly and will come in on days off just to help me out, they can get you whatever you are looking for! more

License to Steal 10/8/2011

Heard this shop was honest and paid top dollar. They gave me a fair price for my metal, but....Here's my story. I went in to this shop to sell a bunch of old/broken jewelry (gold, silver and platinum) One of the items that I included, turned out to be a small silver bracelet that was of great sentimental value to my wife. As soon as I got home, my wife discovered my mistake. We called WS Coins immediately (maybe 90 minutes after the transaction took place), I explained what happened and asked if they could pull back the bracelet. I was informed all my items, along with a copy of my purchase order, had been sealed in a bag and were on a 30-day hold (required by Seattle PD), and that no one including them could open it for 30 days. I was told to check back in 30 days. Well, 30 days later I did check back and discovered that the bag with my purchase order and items had ""magically"" or ""conveniently"" disappeared. Staff was very condescending when I asked how this bag--sealed tight--for 30 days could all of a sudden just vanish into thin air. I'm paraphrasing here, but I was essentially told ""tough s---t"" What do I think happened? I think someone as WS Coins saw the bracelet and liked it....so they took the bracelet, probably before it ever made it into the 30-day hold. When I called them and told them of my error they covered their tracks by telling me the bag with my Purchase Order and items couldn't be located. They didn't give a damn about me as a customer and I will never do business with these crooks again, and urge you all to look elsewhere too.\r more

WOW! Just shopped around some jewelry and found west seattle coins to be my highest bid! They also have excellent customer service. The only downside is it was stuffed with people and there wasn't anywhere to sit. They did offer a magazine to read though! \r \r more
