I'm not quite sure what changed with this salon. They used to be amazing. They're nice and accommodating until you don't like your hair and then everyone turns into a passive ag...

Compliments Galore! 5/18/2009

I've never had so many compliments on both my haircut and color since going to the Beehive. Grocery clerks, baristas & random strangers on the street have given me compliments on my "do". I'm reluctant to divulge my fab stylist's name as she is already pretty booked but I will tell you she has Friday's off. Michele, the esthetician does a fantastic job on eyebrows too! She will also keep you from walking around with a mustache as well. There is talent at the Beehive and they will make you more beautiful than you already are! more

Beehive is a great salon. Service is outstanding and the stylists are hip without being trendy or pretentious. It is a very welcoming, comfortable place. more

One-stop for salon needs 9/12/2006

I've been going to Beehive Salon for nearly 5 years for waxing, haircuts and color. I can't say enough about Beehive's commitment to good service. Among the highlights (heh heh) are: low staff turnover; Aveda products; professional, experienced staff; beautiful environment; and Michelle, who does the best brow wax ever. more

A bit of a waste of time... 7/28/2006

I was there for about 3 hours for a partial foil and color...which turned out to be AWFUL!!! Not impressed at all. more

Couldn't be better 3/7/2006

I love Beehive! I have been getting my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed there forever! Michelle does an awesome job on my brows, and no matter who cuts my hair, I look great. I am extremely lazy when it comes to hair maintenance, so I need a great cut that will last. more

A wonderful neighborhood salon 1/12/2006

I have been having my facials and brow waxing/tinting here for the last couple of years, and recently started getting my hair cut and colored here also. Michelle is terrific--I can't believe how good my brows look when she is finished with them. Nicole has only done my hair once, but did a great job and I will be returning to her soon. One thing I really like is that there isn't a lot of pointless waiting around--they're ready for you when you arrive and get you in and out fast. I also love the fact that it's an Aveda salon and they have the full range of Aveda products, plus a lot of very pretty jewelry and accessories. Best of all, parking is EASY and FREE, not $8-10 like it is downtown! And the neighborhood is fun--when you're done with your services, you can go next door for sushi or across the street for coffee. more

Wonderful Facials! 12/26/2005

As a life-long Aveda groupie, a friend recommended this salon to me a few years ago. It's a fun, friendly place with great customer service. Michelle, the facialist, is outstanding. I can't say I've ever looked forward to getting a wax, but she is quick, thorough and the pain is minimal. Her facials are out of this world: I get glowing, clear skin and leave feeling very relaxed. I look forward to my visit every month - it's the perfect combination of "maintenance" and relaxation! more

Ok. But Lousy Cancellation Policy 10/4/2005

If you miss your appointment or if you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, you still have to pay for it. The waxing was not too painful. I also received a haircut and it wasn't what I asked for or showed in the picture. Also, the hairstylist didn't tell me until he was finished with the cut that he couldn't do it. I could've picked a different cut that I would like. My advice is to go here if you're sure you can make your appointment and you are getting a simple haircut. more

Friendly salon well worth a visit 7/7/2005

I stumbled upon this Aveda concept salon the summer I was getting married. I had my brows and underarms (!) waxed, as well as my hair and make-up done here. For my first visit, it was a consultation for my up-do. I was very impressed with the stylist after having a not-so great experience elsewhere. The stylist listened to what I envisioned and worked with me to create a look I was happy with. On the day of my wedding she came in early and even helped take pictures of the final product. I was very satisfied with the quality of service and would highly recommend this salon. more

  • The Scene
    Warm red walls, shiny blond floors and open ductwork on the ceiling give this Greenlake salon a vibrant, youth-oriented ambience. Staff is friendly, but occasionally distracted by the buzz of talkative clientele and brisk pace of walk-in customers picking up Aveda products. Treatment rooms offer some escape, but you can still hear much of the activity from the salon and front desk.

    The Services
    Aestheticians are efficient, which can be nice if you're in a hurry, but a bit off-putting if you're hoping for a relaxed pampering session. Their exclusive use of Aveda products means whoever is providing your treatment is well-educated about what products they are using, but there's usually no heavy sales pressure. Detoxifying body treatments are very popular and deep discounts make the combination spa packages especially good bargains.
