Do not order cakes here!! I ordered one without decor except one accent, plain white for $31.00. Picked it up,they decorated it and told me it was $45.00 ! I explained I did not want or ask for it decorated.the manager did not care in the slightest, just said well its decorated and that costs $45.00, did not apologize or even consider finding out what happened to my order , just stood there waiting for payment.I have never been treated so poorly,I will never go back. more

This is the first time and will be the last time I order from them. I ordered a chiffon cake online but when we cut it we found out it's not a chiffon cake... But fine we still ate it. The taste was ok but not anything better than average. Within one hour of eating the cake, both me and my husband had bad cramps and diarrhea! Then when I called them to complain, the phone was answered by a manager. She was SO RUDE. She didn't even bother saying a sorry. What she answered is basically that they make everything fresh and nobody else had similar complaints as if it's our own problem to get sick after eating their cake. more

In regards to the last post...I was a customer on that day and I had a similar experience however, it was the male customer that was acting like the hick thug. He drove up parking the wrong direction right in front of the building, came in and the girl was helping me with a cake order and pickup. We were talking and this man says Miss your out of numbers (not very nicely), she responded that they must be stuck and she would fix it when she was finished and we should try and remember the order we came in. I was done and stepped away to get a coffee a gentleman walked up and asked for a cup, the man said excuse me I was next, what do you have to do to get service around here put up a road flare. The poor girl behind the counter continued to smile had a glove on and a box and asked the man what she could get for him, he said in a flippant tone, I'll take some muffins, she said what kind, he said I don't care. By this time more people had walked in witnessing this mans poor behavior. She still smiled and said please tell me how many you want, he said I don't care. She still smiled and said again please tell me how many you would like. He said forget it and walked to the door, a nice man in a suit said hey, your being an a**, the man actually stopped at the door and said Do you wanna go? I was embarrassed for the girl and for the customers. This man was awful and no one deserves to be treated this poorly. I give this store a five because the whole time this man was acting like a fool the girl behind the counter continued to smile and tried to help. Then we he walked out she actually apologized to us all. Beaverton Bakery I am impressed. To the comment before this, if you were this customer I am sure glad I won't be running into you again. more

Great taste test/Rude Service 12/23/2010

I went to Beaverton Bakery to taste test for my wedding in about 6 months. I have heard that they are phenomenal and local. First what I did like, they had a separate attached entrance of the store as a sit down area for Brides to talk to a baker. You could see the kitchen prep area-very clean and organized. You didn't need an appt and the taste test was SO yummy. That was all. I sat down with a cake decorator who didn't say more than 5 words to us. Someone else came over to ask what samples we would like I gave them a few by name and asked for their pro opinion on flavors in that family-light airy-summery. She came back with a plate of choices. I wish SHE had been the person we sat down with. This woman was obviously very unhappy to be there, it showed in her face. She didn't ease us into conversation-I mean after all this was my first cake tasting, how did I know what to do! A simple so-what are you looking for? how many people are you serving? What kind of cake shape do you like. Nothing, so after a few seconds of awkward silence I just dove right in with what I had seen in the store. And shes like ok-that was it-ok. One of my jr bridesmaids said she looked a few times when the lady wasn't paying attn and the lady had a big frown on her face! I am looking elsewhere for a cake, I'll even sacrifice taste a little bit for friendlier service. I'm a first time bride and like many out there don't have a clue as to what I'm doing and need help from the professionals to walk me through the process! more

So rude! 11/7/2009

After I had I moved to Beaverton from out-of-state and lived here for several months, one of my friends expressed her shock that I hadn't been to Beaverton Bakery and that I needed to go NOW because it was so amazing!!...yada...yada...I went and picked up a few things. It's a busy place, which I understand if it's good, but they were very disorganized and after waiting for several minutes I ended up having to point out that I was next even though they have a take-a-number system. The baked goods I got were okay...nothing special in my opinion, but I figured I just didn't make a great choice. I am helping to plan a friend's baby shower and Beaverton Bakery came up as a potential bakery to get the cake from. I looked at their options online and called to ask a couple of questions and the lady who answered was SO RUDE! I couldn't have been on the phone with her for more than 1 minute and she was not only unfriendly, but was even snotty. It's too bad - I live here and would have gotten the cake from there - but not with that attitude! I guess even in this economy they don't think they need anyone's business! Pros: from scratch Cons: very rude service more

Good Cake 11/8/2008

Second year in a row we went to them for my son's birthday and they performed. Ordered a full sheet cake this year and went with the butter cream frosting and lemon cake and filling. To Die for. But wait there?s more. They made a custom Scooby Do Design with little figures and everything. The decorator, Lucy who works there really took care of me. We will be back and oh yes you can taste the difference over others offerings. Not sure what all the complaining is about in some of the other reviews but I tell ya - That cake is Good Cake :) Pros: Taste and Design Cons: alittle spendy but I think it is justified more

Not the same as they used to be 9/18/2008

When we were married 10 years ago they promised that they would re-create our wedding cake top for every anniversary. A few years ago they stopped that policy (unless we pay a hefty price almost twice what it used to be) and they try to sell us a cheap square cake with roses on it instead. I don't want a small square cake that has nothing to do with our wedding. If I did, I can buy a comparable ""anniversary"" cake anywhere. We did order the replica wedding cake top at the inflated cost for our 10th anniversary and the order was lost, then wrong. After several phone calls to make sure they were getting it right it came out fine, but it was too much work for me. more

Terrible service, product does not meet expectations 8/25/2008

We ordered our wedding cake from Beaverton Bakery over one year ago. Even though they had documented the color that we requested, the cake, when it showed up at our wedding (supposed to be dark silver) was white. It tasted okay...not fabulous, but okay. For our inconvenience, we received a free cake topper (a $17.95) value. We received that today (on our anniversary) and it once again is not the right color, nor does it look at all like the cake we ordered. It is hideously ugly. Also, the frosting is so thin, that the cake shows completely through. Cons: terrible service, product not as ordered more

Above and Beyond 7/22/2008

I read what others wrote before offering my comments. We live far too close to the bakery, which is neither good for our waistlines nor my pocketbook. Yes, Beaverton Bakery is more expensive than a supermarket bakery. Certainly they are awfully busy at times (remember to take a number!). But I have had several instances where they went above and beyond to meet my (high) expectations. I ordered a huge custom cake for my father's 60th birthday. I spent a lot of time with the clerk looking at pictures and didn't really see a design that excited me. The clerk asked me about him and when I said that he's a NASA/space nut she told me about a cake that they had done previously with a space theme. It sounded great, with three-dimensional planets, etc. We talked about design ideas, with me stressing that I didn't want it to be cheesy. I even brought in astronaut and shuttle toys that they incorporated into the design. It was AWESOME!!! You should have seen this thing. Plus delicious too, which counts when it's food we're talking about. The other big time they came through for me was this past Christmas. My stepmother's birthday is two days before the holiday. Well, I was going to make her favorite cake (white with lemon) but it was a last-minute disaster. So I had a BIG party in two hours and no time to make another cake. I called and the young man who answered to phone understood my problem. Right in the middle of holiday chaos they baked another cake just for me, decorated it beautifully, and he even applied his employee discount to give me a break on the cost. I could have cried. This was a big deal because she had cancer, and we knew this would be her last Christmas and birthday. She died two weeks ago, and pictures from that event and the lovely cake made me very thankful for this bakery. Pros: Amazing quality, great staff, Yummmmmmm Cons: Very busy at peak times, old and overstuffed main location more

Bad service 7/17/2008

it was first time for me to use this bakery since they have online service. I ordered custom made but the cake was not what i ordered. my friend picked it up for me and she waited long time for the cake. more

You want your wedding to be perfect... 6/24/2008

I had heard great things about Beaverton Bakery, so I ordered my wedding cake from them. I specifically ordered not just the wedding cake, but a sheet cake in order to accomodate all of my guests. Well on my wedding day the sheet cake never showed. There was only enough cake for about half of the guests. Not only that, but when I called to speak with them after I returned home I was met with an extreme ""so what"" attitude. I was polite and rational, but the woman on the other end offered not even an ounce of kindess or even professionalism. And this was on my WEDDING DAY! I was finally able to speak with someone who offered at least an apology and a refund for the sheet cake, but the damage was done. I have never had a company treat me this poorly after making a mistake. You would think that a bakery that prides itself on wedding cakes would know how to treat a bride. more

Great Wedding Cake! 10/11/2007

I recently was married on Oct 5, 2007 and we ordered our cake from Beaverton Bakery. I have to say it was an overall positive experience. Pros: Beautiful cake, tasted better than expected, exactly like I ordered Cons: Delivery was 1 hour late, took quite a bit of waiting before I was helped more

At one time it was the best. 8/12/2007

Customer service is so so. Quality is not like it use to be. Yes they still can make a good cake and for something special I would say it is worth it but the everyday bakery items are not half as good as they were 20 years ago. They seem to be living off of the name which stood for quality for so long. Pros: It was good Cons: Not good any more more

NOT recommended 6/27/2007

I agree with the customer service not being professional at this bakery. My wedding cake showed up late and was not what I ordered. I was completely embarassed at my own wedding and I hate looking at pictures of a cake that looked nothing like the one I picked out. more

Takes care of their customers! 9/13/2006

I ran out of time to make my own Barbie cake for my daughter's birthday (she had been asking for one for the last 6 months), so I decided to purchase the cake from Beaverton Bakery. The items I'd had there before had always been excellent. more

A Plea... 9/11/2006

This message is for the person who wrote the one bad review about this bakery. I am almost undoubtedly the girl you spoke of. Let me say that my demeanor, however grossly exaggerated it was, should not affect anyone's choice to seek out the bakeries goods and services. The product that you get at this bakery is delicious and particularly the woman who does the wedding cakes is a spectacular and very talented artist. Seeing as how I no longer work at the bakery, you can be assured that the service you will recieve in the wedding shop will be from women who are a lot older and less prone to be talked into working a double shift and coming to work the next day tired and some what complacent. This bakery makes wonderful goods, but unfortunately treats their employees like slaves. Please consider that everyone has their good days and their bad days and although you may have felt insulted and disappointed, the person you sat with was underpaid, overworked and at the end of a very long shift. I do understand that you were looking forward to what needs to be the pleasant experience of planning a wedding and I marred that for you. For that I am very sorry. more

Horrible Customer Service! 4/5/2006

We went into this bakery for our first ever cake tasting and the girl that helped us was completely rude. We had no idea what we were doing, as this was our first time, and she just sat at the table staring at us. She was not helpful or even pleasant and acted as though she didn't care if she got our business or not! Pros: pretty cakes Cons: customer service more

The Best Bakery in Town! 3/16/2005

Beaverton Bakery is the best bakery in town. Recently I bought some of their homemade cinnamon raison bread and it was so much better than the store bought kind. I have also purchased a German Chocolate Cake here that was excellent. It is hard to leave the place without bying a treat impulse buy. Pros: Fresh, Best Cakes Cons: Too Good more
