I read what others wrote before offering my comments. We live far too close to the bakery, which is neither good for our waistlines nor my pocketbook. Yes, Beaverton Bakery is more expensive than a supermarket bakery. Certainly they are awfully busy at times (remember to take a number!). But I have had several instances where they went above and beyond to meet my (high) expectations. I ordered a huge custom cake for my father's 60th birthday. I spent a lot of time with the clerk looking at pictures and didn't really see a design that excited me. The clerk asked me about him and when I said that he's a NASA/space nut she told me about a cake that they had done previously with a space theme. It sounded great, with three-dimensional planets, etc. We talked about design ideas, with me stressing that I didn't want it to be cheesy. I even brought in astronaut and shuttle toys that they incorporated into the design. It was AWESOME!!! You should have seen this thing. Plus delicious too, which counts when it's food we're talking about. The other big time they came through for me was this past Christmas. My stepmother's birthday is two days before the holiday. Well, I was going to make her favorite cake (white with lemon) but it was a last-minute disaster. So I had a BIG party in two hours and no time to make another cake. I called and the young man who answered to phone understood my problem. Right in the middle of holiday chaos they baked another cake just for me, decorated it beautifully, and he even applied his employee discount to give me a break on the cost. I could have cried. This was a big deal because she had cancer, and we knew this would be her last Christmas and birthday. She died two weeks ago, and pictures from that event and the lovely cake made me very thankful for this bakery.
Pros: Amazing quality, great staff, Yummmmmmm
Cons: Very busy at peak times, old and overstuffed main location
