Beach Comber Kids Cuts

I took my son to Beach Combers for his first haircut and it was a horrible experience. The place was chaotic when we arrived and no one greeted us. The stylist did not offer my son a cape, so hair got EVERYWHERE. She sprayed water on me twice (instead of on my son) and scraped me with the scissors more than twice. She did not appear to know how to cut a child's hair, especially for a first haircut. She kept complaining that her long fake nails were getting in the way. On top of all that, my son's hair looked awful; it was choppy and not even. Another stylist offered to help fix it and I believe that she was the owner, but she didn't apologize even though she witnessed everything that had occurred. I finally told her that I was very disappointed with the experience and she told me that there would be no charge for the haircut, but she still didn't apologize. I'll never go back. My friends have had great experiences at the salon at U Village. That's where we'll be going for all future haircuts. more

beach comber is another great find for kid haircuts. it's easy to get to - right on phinney - but parking was a bit tough during the weekend (but i did eventually find parking a block away). aside from their very nice and talented stylists, they have 3 things going for them. 1 - they have *really* cool chairs. kids can sit on a dolphin or even a sea turtle! and these are hand-carved and tres cool. 2 - they have a big playroom in the back with all sort of things for the kids to do. and 3 - they have movies! my little dude got to watch Shrek while he was getting his haircut and that made it oh so painless. they have about 40 movies to choose from including baby einstein, princess bride, mary poppins, little mermaid, aladdin, big, and more. prices are in line w/other kid hair places i've seen, and it was easy to get a next-day appointment. more
