Editorial review from Citysearch 6/21/2012

Mashiko is closed for lunch - we found this out firsthand today as we headed out for a sushi fix. No worries, as Azuma was right down the street. Our service was great with the noticeable exception that the miso soup came out about halfway through our meal. We went with three rolls: California (Imitation crab, cucumber and avocado), Poki (Ahi tuna and scallions with chili & sesame oil) and Tropicana (Tuna, avocado, and mango). The California roll was good, as per usual for a CA roll. The Poki heat of the chili added a nice depth and it was a tie between that and the nice surprise of mango in the Tropicana that tied these two rolls as the best of the meal. Solid good sushi here! more

Delicious vegan sushi! Crispy vegetables! 8/4/2009

When I can't think of what I want to eat, usually this is where I end up. Excellent vegan sushi options, a fantastic house salad (I must figure that dressing out!). I typically will call them up on a week day around noon, feeling hungry and a little lazy, order my same old same old (asparagus roll and avocado roll, house salad), and drive up there five or ten minutes later and it's ready. I can hardly wait to get home and eat it. They also do a very nice vegetable Tempura, the house soup is excellent, a little smoky and salty, and all of it is pretty reasonably priced. Even on a Friday night at rush hour and the line well out the door, I didn't wait more than ten minutes to be seated. The waitstaff are masters of efficiency..when it just about enters your mind that you've been waiting a second past too long for your food, there it is, beautifully presented and mouth watering. I have eaten there maybe fifty times over five years, and never once, NEVER found hair in my food. I feel sorry for those folks who did. Fluke. Pros: Inexpensive, Fast! Fresh, Delicious, Diverse. more

Best sushi place in Seattle. Period. 6/6/2009

This has to be the best sushi place my family and I have eaten at. Right when we walked into the restaurant, we were graciously greeted by their staff and seating was prompt despite being so busy. We ordered their seaweed salad and miso soup for appetizers, and their miso soup was definitely the best I've ever had. For our main course we had an assortment of sashimi and rolls. The wild salmon was our favorite, as well as their dynamite roll! Very, very good. To top it off, we ordered their banana tempura ice cream for dessert. Everything we ordered was really good, and we look forward to coming again soon!! Pros: Fast and friendly service, fresh fish, large sake menu Cons: No outside dining more

Best sushi in west seattle by far 2/24/2008

One of the best sushi places I've ever been to. All the fish was fresh, the service was prompt and friendly, and the sake collection was excellent. Great place to take your family and eat. I found this Azuma to be very affordable, while all the other sushi places in west Seattle were way overpriced. more

Speedy Sushi with Elbow Room 10/27/2007

Fresh Fish and Great Service make this a 1-2 weekly stop. It doesn't have as much selection as most sushi, but the chef will usually accomadate most requests. Also the prices are more then reasonable and unbeatable for Seattle or anywhere else. Great Sake Selection also...... Pros: Everything Cons: Smaller and sometimes a wait is possible on weekends more

Best Sushi anywhere, family friendly and family operated. 10/21/2007

We have been eating Sushi all over the world. This is by far our favorite. The service is always warm and friendly. The nigiri has large, thick peices. Every item is fresh. They make the best catapillar roll anywhere. If eating in or ordering to take home, we are always thrilled with our meal. more

You can't beat it 8/31/2007

Hands down the best sushi place I have ever been to? and I know sushi. My wife is currently on a 12 step program for her wasabi and soy sauce addiction  They are reasonably priced with decent sized portions; a friendly, fun, family atmosphere. Pros: I've been to 100s of sushi places. This is the best Cons: No bar more

Great Sushi Rolls/Sashimi 4/29/2004

No advertising, no sponsored links; yet people are always eating there. The sashimi portions are large, varied, and tasty. The sushi roll selection is not as large as some, but the serving size for dollar paid is very good. Many menu items can be tailored to suit your request. Skip the rest and stay with the best. Pros: shiro maguro, custom servings, large sashimi peices more
