Editorial review from Citysearch 9/6/2012

I have been with Dave for over 10 years. I'm pretty sure if he ever quit I would hunt him down and follow to whatever shop he went to. He's NEVER quoted me a price that wasn't accurate. They have found additional things wrong, but never a WRONG price. more

First Rate 11/30/2011

I wanted to take a moment to share how pleased I am with Autopia service and staff. They always take to time to explain services in an informative manner which is greatly appreciated since Im no ""gearhead"". Perhaps most important is no suprise billing since their main goal is to keep you in the loop during the whole process! I highly recommend Autopia to family and colleagues. This is the only auto repair shop for me! more

Autopia 11/29/2011

I find it unfortunate that the peeps below have erred their disregard in a public forum against Autopia. To those that have erred this disregard, per chance if you communicated, discussed and negotiated with Autopia instead of being a pussy and erring your pitiful grievance on-line, you might have realized more value for your tongue twisted complaint. I've worked with Autopia for over 10 years, and they are the best in the Twin Cities at what they do. I travel consistently, and should I ever buy a vehicle, say, in St. Petersburg, Russia, I'd fly Tim & Dave over in a heartbeat to inspect it before I laid down a dime - or Ruble - as apropos... more

nice, but not good. 11/15/2011

Well the guys up front are nice and seem to care. Maybe a little 2 used car salesman ish to be honest. But the guys up front are okay! Work, not so much. I $330 job ended being $830. They had my Vehicle friday, sat sun and monday at 3pm it was done! Oh my! I would NEVER EVER take my vehicle here again! I would never send my worse enemy here for repairs. Much better and less spendy places. My 2 cents. Peace PS write the better biz bureau, they help and make crooked companies pay more

GR8 Experience With Autopia 6/6/2011

I went in because I had an emergency on my 2005 Ford Mustang and Autopia was the nearest repair shop to where I was. I was desperate and anxious because it is never fun having an unexpected expense. I went in very near closing time and was given a solution to my dilemma in a very timely manner. I was offered a loaner car--at no cost to myself, very convenient. I was also reassured that my car would be diagnosed the very next day with an estimate ready. The next morning, as promised, I received a call explaining just what was going on with my car and exactly how much it would be. Great, friendly staff and very clean, comfortable relaxing waiting room atmosphere with complimentary fruit & snacks at the ready. Overall A+ more

Very happy with my service 5/17/2011

I started bringing my VW to Autopia a few years ago. Since then they have performed my routine oil changes, brakes, tires, alignment and tune-up. I have always been extremely happy with the level of customer service and care for my vehicle. I have never been surprised by any additional work or price. If ever I had a question or issue, I knew I could call them and they would have an answer or solution for me. I would recommend their service to everyone! more

Shady, Sketchy, and Just a Bad Idea 5/16/2011

Rip off. Total rip off. I brought my new Mazda in to have some work done - and they used fear tactics to scare me into getting additional work done. The next time I was at the dealer, they told me that the maintenance schedule didn't require ANY of this work to be done, and that the parts they wanted to replace were in perfect working condition. I too feel like a sucker. I talked to the manager who gave me a crumby labor certificate. Yeah right, like I'll ever take my car in to this joke of a business again. Steer clear of these money-hungry thieves. I had to take the car BACK to get their work done right. Even then, the dealer had to fix their horrible workmanship. Screws were loose, the bumper was scuffed and they almost stole my mats. I'm lucky I noticed they were missing or I would have never seen them again. more

They try to be nice, but that doesn't fix my car properly. 4/25/2011

These guys are terrible first off. I bought my car from the owner, less than 2000 miles after buying it, the clutch starts slipping and only had 22,000 miles on it. They were nice enough to give me 50% off labor to have them repair it but that was still $600 just for labor. After getting the car back I start driving it home and my car starts to overheat and was making a grinding noise coming from the front end and I call the owner wondering what they did to my car. Turns out they didn't bleed the coolent after they were done which is routine and should've been taken care of. So I ended up fixing that myself. I also found stuff they missed when I had my car on a lift, not minor things, two bolts were sticking about an inch out of the housing that connects the transmission to the engine. They also didn't replaced the belly pan so now my engine is completely unprotected from below. more

Problem Solved at Autopia 3/29/2011

I have had my 2002 Ford Escape serviced by Autopia regularly for several years now. Recently I had a starting problem, not the battery. We thought it might be the fuel pump, but that wasn't it either. Autopia put their best mechanic on it for two days with diagnostic equipment to localize the fault, and they found a corroded electrical connection, which they cleaned and resealed, solving the problem. They were very fair with me about pricing. I appreciate their competence, thoroughness, and integrity. more

Great first impression 3/23/2011

I stopped in to Autopia because I live nearby and my license plate had been ripped off by a snow bank. The staff was friendly and they quickly fixed my license plate free of charge. I did not have the time to get an oil change but I will certainly be going back there soon for one. Thank you for the great customer service and fast repair! more

Best Car Service Ever!!!! 2/22/2011

I was stuck in one of these terrible snow storms aftermath, with my keys locked in my car and the car was running. I walked to Autopia to see if they could help me -- they went far beyond what I could imagine. They simply asked me where my car was and told me to sit down and relax. They not only unlocked my car for me, but also removed it from being stuck and drove it to their location for me to be on my way; and all free of charge. I loved the staff and felt they genuinely cared about my well-being regardless of making money or not. I would recommend this place to anyone! more

Terrible Service, Car Still Broken, Feel Like a Sucker 1/30/2011

I just got completely ripped off by these a-holes. Don't ever even think of taking your car to Autopia. I brought it in for a simple $500 repair. Next thing I know, I'm in for over $1,700 for ""blinker fluid"". They jumped the gun on several maintenance items that didn't need to be done for another 20k-30k miles. That is unacceptable. They used fear to sell me repairs, they claimed ""your ball joints might fail in 100 miles or they might last 20,000 miles, there's no way to tell. You don't want to be stranded in the cold, do you?"" Highly unacceptable, highly unprofessional, and a second opinion proved that none of this work was necessary. I'm pretty sure they work on commission. These idiots are terrible mechanics, I'll be calling the Dept. of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau. They ripped me off and I'm pissed about it. Don't ever give these jerks 1 penny. more

Autopia has the best service 9/29/2010

I have been a autopia customer for last 12 years. I have purchase 4 cars from them over the last during the last 12 years. I still own all 4 cars and they are in great shape. Autopia is the only repair shop that has worked on my cars and they are in excellent shape. Out of all the cars, 1998 Toyota Camrey is my favorite. It just turn over 320K. I am very satisfied with the work and the service I have received from Autopia. I always got a ride to where I want to be whenever I bring my car for repairs. I would recomend anyone to use these guys for repair work. more

Consumate Professionals 4/2/2010

I initally went to Autopia for automotive service because I had moved in just a few blocks away from them. That was almost four years ago and I continue to go back. Pros: Quality of service and work. Great support of warranty. Cons: Cost (though still a good value given the quality) more

Watch Out Uptown!? 2/24/2010

We always new Autopoia was overpriced, we chose never use them even though they are a few blocks away. Cons: I'll never go to Autopia again. more

Do yourself a favor 11/5/2009

I brought my 12 yr old Subaru into Autopia last month after neglecting it's upkeep for the last 4 yrs. It had been a heavily used work car for about 8 yrs prior to that. Pros: Pros - That's the right word more

Great Place to Bring Your Car! 10/26/2009

My 19 year old daughter has brought her car to Autopia twice. I was relieved because they took the time to explain everything to her AND they called me before they did anything because they knew Mom was paying for the repairs! They did a great job and I appreciate their respect. more

THEY WILL LIE TO YOU-THEY ARE PAID ON COMMISSION 8/30/2009

I brought my car in for a oil change for the 21.95 special. They told me that my water pump was leaking onto my timing belt, among many more things with a estimate of almost $2000. They told me that it was so severe that I shouldn't even drive it to work (5 miles away), and that I needed to fix it immediately. My car is under warranty at VW, so I brought it there. They told me nothing was wrong with it. So, I got paranoid that either a: autopia was trying to rip me off or b: vw didn't want to cover any damage cause my car was under warranty. So, I brought it to a mechanic with a good reputation and he told me nothing was wrong with it! That 21. 95 oil change cost me $200 because I had to bring it into two other places to have them look at my 'severe car problems'. The thing is, they talked to me very nicely, and explained 'what was wrong with my car' to me. They got voted #1 by Women's Press which makes me sad. Yes, they talk to women nicely, but they LIE! Pros: cheap oil change, the front desk staff is very nice Cons: they will try to rip you off more
