Best

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!

Worst

Our meal began as a huge disappointment, but improved somewhat throughout the night. We started off with the Lobster potstickers and Tuna tartare. The potstickers had been fried...

TUNA TARTAR appetizer 4/7/2003

The Tuna Tartar appetizer was the best thing I have ever tasted!! The serious was very attentive and nice. We did not have one bad meal (ordered 3 appetizers and two meals) the prices were outrageously expensive (appetizers were the same price as the meals) and the alcoholic drinks were a little pricey. I would definitely go back for the tuna tartar as my meal Pros: tuna tartar Cons: prices more

Overpriced 2/16/2003

Here were my observations: 1) Lousy service - they lost our coat check ticket and then scolded us for being in the coat room. The waitress served us the wrong wine and the host was very snotty and rude 2) Mediocre food - the best thing we ordered was the duck - the ribs, and fish were below par for the prices 3) Overpriced - $11 for a cocktail?! and $30 for valet parking??? Give me a break. 4) Bridge & Tunnel/LA Crowd - annoying out of towners, big sleazy gold-digger singles scene. Early 20s and mid 40s type of crowd. Way too LA/NY - try to be a bit more classy. Thank you. Pros: Cool design Cons: People, Staff, Overpriced more

Simply not worth it. 2/12/2003

When I dine out, the most important thing is good food. The food here sounded better than it actually was. They didn't do a great job with the ""fusion"" of the Asian and Latin dishes. The restaurant was a bit dark where I actually saw a diner turn his menu to a weak light source and peer closely just to read it. The service was decent, aside from the fact that we had to keep asking to have our waters filled and the place wasn't even busy. That's the one thing they should do right. The prices are high, and the food is not worth the money. more

Mediocre food at sky high prices 2/6/2003

Recently held a client dinner at A de C. The whole evening was a disappointment from bad food to watery drinks. I have never experienced such outlandishly high priced mediocre food. If you want good Asian - go to Clement street and try Taiwan. If you want good Latino cuisine, go to the Mission and try las palmas. And, did I mention the outlandish prices? But, on a positive note, the Coconut Cake desert was delicious and is a good value. Pros: Location, Setting Cons: bad food, small portions, bad food more

Disappointed 2/6/2003

The food at the Asia de Cuba in NY is better. I was disappointed. Everything else was there -- ambiance, music, the crowd more

cooooooooooool 1/25/2003

I love it! the atmosphere was great. I don't mind the crammed seating too much, because the food was great, the server was friendly, and the restaurant had such style. Check it out. more

NY in SF 1/10/2003

I loved this restaurant!!!! Excellent service and the food was fantastic!!! I highly recommend eating at the glass table that sits in the middle of the restaurant, especially if you have large group. This is a great restaurant for large groups or to have a romantic dinner. After dinner hop over to the gorgeous Redwood Room!! Pros: Great service, Large portions, tasty menu choices Cons: expensive, only valet parking more

succulant and sexxy... 1/3/2003

I booked not expecting the service I got. Everything....was flawless. The front desk were professional and fun. I waited for 15 minutes while my table was being prepared. I wait which I didn't mind a bit. We went to the redwood room for cocktails and watched the imaging and the buzz in the air. The restaurant was sleek and in a word salicous. The food tempted parts of our tastebuds we didn't know existed. Overall we rate Asia de Cuba very well, It is such a great addition to all the dining experiences available in San Francisco. Jade Pros: Food, Friendly Staff, Fun Atmosphere Cons: tables are close, hard to find no sign more

Good food, not good value... 12/9/2002

I completely agree with the reviewer who stated that you are paying for the atmosphere in the price of the food and drinks. The food was good-- the lobster postickers were succulent and the Wok fried fish and the plantain fried rice were very satisfying. But quite frankly, despite how wonderful I found the food I couldn't help but feel that I was being completely overcharged... Service was decent but not as attentive as one would expect. And even though the place was half full we were squished into a table that was not big enough to hold all the food we ordered... more

What are reservations for? 11/22/2002

I would've that they we used to book a time to dine at a restaurant. However, this isn't the case here. I had reservation at Asia de Cuba, but they made me wait for an additional 45 minutes! This put a complete damper on the whole evening. I will NEVER eat here again. more

excellent food, sub-par valet parking 10/21/2002

food and ambiance were outstanding; service was very good. to be corrected immediately: the valet parking 'service'. Leaving my car there left me with a measure of insecurity that interrupted what would have otherwise been an unbelievably wonderful meal. the parker is not officially dressed, so on drop-off it is not clear that he is with the Hotel or the Restaurant or any organization. His behavior does nothing to change that impression. on pickup no one could tell us where our cars were. it was a long wait, and when they did arrive, radios were reprogrammed to a station one can only suspect is more preferable to the valets. It made me wonder if they were using the car for a joy ride instead of parking it while we had our dinner. all in all, I probably won't be back if I'm driving -- it's not worth the anxiety! Pros: cuisine - excellent!, ambience, service Cons: valet parking poor, redwood room noisy more

Chic Atmosphere, Forgettable Food 10/10/2002

At Asia de Cuba you are paying as much for the atmosphere as you are the food. Maybe even more. If you are more interested in your date and great food than hoping to catch a glimpse of Jennifer Love Hewitt walk through the door, you may be wise to eat elsewhere. After divulging in 6 bland lobster potstickers for $24 and a rather tough cut of filet for $36, I began to wonder if all the $$ went into the decor and little into the quality of food. On the upside: service is friendly and attentive and the cocktails are exquisite. My recommendation would be to skip Asia de Cuba and head straight for the Redwood Room next door for after-dinner drinks. Pros: Attentive Service, Chic Atmosphere, Great Cocktails Cons: Bland food, Overpriced more

Skip the food and drink 9/30/2002

The food here was nicely presented and sounded good on the menu, however, everything we tried was lacking. Our first selection was a shooter - crab and jicama - but no dressing to bind or flavor. Next was Thai Beef Salad which had some red, sweet, gooey sauce that had nothing else going. Whole fish with crab was tasty but again the flavors were singlular and boring. Skip the food and enjoy the great drinks. Pros: Portions to share, Great drinks Cons: Expensive, Forgettable food more

""wanna be host = snob"" 9/21/2002

Food was great with some very interesting flavors/combinations and the waiter was very helpful. UNFORTUNATELY the male host on Saturday night 2 weeks ago was trying to be too chic/hip to the point of aloof.... sorry to break the news, but you seat people at a restaraunt.... you should be cordial with the people who pay your salary. I ate at the Redwood Park the week before and not only was the food, wine and waiter excellent.... the host was cordial. I literally spent 10x the money at Redwood Park ... and will again. I'll never go back to Asia de Cuba. more

Poor service, average food, overpriced 9/16/2002

In a city that has so many better choices, why would anyone go to Asia de Cuba? The one thing that Asia de Cuba has in spades is ambience. The decor is very cool. The bar is great place to hang out and look hip. The restaurant, however, is just not worth it. The food is mediocre, yet priced in the range of Masa's. The service is absolutely terrible. Waitstaff is there when you need them. They were unfriendly and unapoligetic. They took over an hour to process our group's credit cards! If you have this much money to spend on dinner, I would recommend Masa's. If you're looking for excellent fusion cuisine, try Azie or Slanted Door. There is no reason to go to Asia de Cuba except maybe to check out the decor. Pros: Decor Cons: Overpriced, Mediocre food, Poor service more

Over-priced and over rated 9/8/2002

We had been hearing great things about this restaurant and it's locations in LA and New York. When it opened in SF, we tried it. Needless to say, we were disappointed. The food was served as in asian restaurants ""to share"". The calamari salad came out greasy and a bit mushy. The other dishes were so so. The ahi tuna appetizer was bland (Aqua is much better). The service was mediocre for the price you would pay for a full service french type restaurant. Food plopped in front of you and not portioned out. Call me a snob but when you are paying these prices, you should get some service. The ambiance is nice but did not make up for the food. more

It appeals to tourists 8/31/2002

Like other ""fusion"" cuisine restaurants the food here lacks the finesse and quality of any of the cuisines that people have tried to combine. Cons: Mediocre food more

all flash, no substance 8/4/2002

we dine out often, If youre looking for a nice romantic evening, this is not the place unless you consider romantic being elbow to elbow with strangers. Our table was literally inches away from the next, so close in fact, they had to move the tables out so other patrons could squeeze in. For our appetizer, we had the lobster pot stickers (24.00) which came out cold along with the rest of our meal ( seared ahi 32.00 was very bland, the chicken cant recall the price, was just as tasteless overall bill was 160.00 not incluiding tip). The service was so poor; our glasses were constantly empty and we had to raise our hand to get someone at the table. We ordered wine with our meal and literally had to wait at least 10 or more minutes while our food sat on the table. Pros: nice decor Cons: terrible service, overpriced, cold food more

Fun and Entertaining 7/25/2002

Went here with a group of 8 people and we weren't disappointed. I'll come out and say the food isn't a great value but it's still good. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the service (once we were finally seated) was spectacular. Waiting for your table isn't so bad b/c you can hang in the Redwood Room. Don't dress like a bum here though. Pros: Lively, Good Service, Atmosphere Cons: Foo-foo more

tasteless grazing food 6/21/2002

over priced 90's style food. nothing special. great to go have a drink but not worth the value. more
