Best

Keep on coming back because of their trained therapist. They really know where to focus to relax my stressed spots.

Worst

They do give a great ,deep massage: I left feeling relaxed.

Life-saver! 11/11/2007

Me and my husband have always wanted a baby, but we tried everything and nothing worked. I am 41 years old, and I have tried 11 IUI's and 6 IVF's before turning to alternative medicine. A friend recommended me to go see Dr. Li. She was very warm and helpful during our consultation session. After 2-3 months of acupuncture and herbal treatments, I tried IVF again and this time, it worked. My husband and I are very happy and grateful to Dr. Li. After years of trying, our wish has finally come true. I am now 4 months pregnant and both my baby and I are very healthy. Dr. Li has really changed my life for the better. more

Horrible and painful 9/21/2007

This was the worst massage I have ever had, but you might like it if you like your back rubs very painful. The masseuse kept massaging the knots behind my shoulder blades really hard, even after i told her three separate times that it was too hard. She spent so much time--very painfully!-- massaging behind my shoulder blades, that she ran out of time before finishing my legs and actually told me it was over! I had also asked for reflexology, and they forgot to tell her, so when I told her at the end of the massage, she quickly pounded my feet and said it was done. I have visible bruises on my back today. I would completely avoid this place. Totally unprofessional. Pros: Cheap Cons: Unprofessional, painful more

cures migraines! 6/17/2007

Ten years ago, when I was 18, I started having huge migraines. Over time, I started getting them everyday, mostly in the morning. They were worst right before I got my period and I was nauseous a lot. I tried a lot of painkillers and a lot of western medicine that my doctor prescribed me, but none worked. Then a friend recommended that I try alternative medicine and referred me to Dr. Li. It was amazing! Just after one session, my pain reduced by 50 %. After 4 sessions and 3 more maintainance sessions, I was completely better. Now, all the migraines are gone. The atmosphere of Asia Tui-na is so warm and friendly, and Dr. Li really takes the time out to listen to each specific case. She can really work wonders! I recommend this clinic to everyone with medical conditions that are affecting their lives. I thought my migraines were uncurable, but now they no longer control my life, all thanks to Asia Tui-na! more

Acupuncture literally saved my face 6/15/2007

I couldn't believe it. I came to New York on a long vacation from Singapore to see my daughter. During this time my face developed a strange distortion and contraction. My left eye was squeezed shut. My cheeks, chin and mouth were twisted down to the left. It was painful, and very hard to eat and to speak. I had to drink liquids only. On my daughter's computer we looked on Google, which led me to Citysearch, and to this place. Dr. Li applied acupuncture twice a week over a course of 4 weeks. I actually extended my vacation for a month just to do this therapy , it was working so well. My face relaxed and got better each time until the problem was 99% gone. I can now eat, sleep and talk. I'm now relaxing more and the 1% has melted away. Dr. Li is so kind, understanding, and a great communicator! Pros: convenient location, comfortable atmosphere more

You won't believe it 6/10/2007

-This is just what I needed for some major shoulder pain. I play competitive electronic online games, and some days I'll sit hunched over the keyboard and game controls for 14-16 hours at a stretch. My shoulders and neck can way stiff, painful and immobile. A friend heard about tui-na so I googled it and Asia Tui Na came up. I tried it once and was able to get back to my gaming pain free. Now I get a tui-na touch-up every week. Pros: It works better than I expected more

Just like home in Taipei! 6/10/2007

I'm in grad school at NYU from Taiwan. My body felt stressed a few weeks ago from finals and weather change. In Taipei our family would go to local tui-na practitioners. And this is just like I remember. The place is clean and smells good too. It's like massage in English, but very old - and it made my body feel right again. Too bad I have to go home for summer! Pros: Traditional Chinese style, not expensive, fast service more

Amazing!! 4/28/2007

This gem of a place is right next to my workplace, and I finally chanced upon it. The massage was excellent. I usually don't like too much pressure and communicated that to the person doing the massage. She did put pressure on some parts because my knots were not coming off, but it all felt great. I highly recommend this place. However, this is not one of the fancy spas. It has curtains separating ""rooms"", and you can hear all the noise. Also, it helps to make sure that the curtain is closed properly between ""stalls"" because you could be butt-naked and the person next door could see you before his/her massage starts. Other than that, this is a great place to get a massage done, if that is exactly what you are looking for. Pros: Good massage, cheap Cons: Decor (but what can one expect given the prices) more

Good Massage 3/28/2007

I've been to many massage places and spas in and out of Manhattan (some in Asia as well) and this place did stand out because the therapist knew what she was doing, able to find my knots and really worked on it. Most therapists only go through the motion and add no value. Although it was quite painful, she worked out my knots on my shoulder and I'm going there again this weekend (last time I went was couple months ago.) Pros: Effective, Economical Cons: The towels could be cleaner more

Amazing massage and price 2/28/2007

If you are looking for a massage and not a back rub this is the place. Not fancy, but clean. Highly recommend! more

Painful but Effective 2/25/2007

My husband and I tried out Asian Tui-Na for the first time and we were very happy with the experience. With the CitySearch Coupon, we paid $98 for TWO one hour massages. That's cheaper than one massage at most places in Manhattan! Be warned though that the massages can be painful unless you ask for a gentler massage (which my husband did). I have some injuries from a car accident, so I liked the deep (and sometimes painful) massage. Two days later, I am still a bit sore from the massage, but the kinks and tension are gone. I will definitely go back. Pros: Good Value, Good Massage, Very Clean Facilities Cons: No private rooms (curtains separate each massage station) more

Wonderful massages 2/22/2007

My boyfriend and I went to this massage parlor for an indulgence around New Year's Eve. They are tucked a bit away so you have to know what you are looking for but this place surely is a gem. We both got 1 hour long massages and walked away feeling wonderful and refreshed. They got out every knot that I've had in my back because it is clear that their professionals are well trained and skilled unlike some other Manhattan spas I've had the displeasure of going to (::ahem:: Serenity AVOID). Pros: very professional, wonderful atmosphere, thorough massages Cons: can be hard to find more

Alcoholism - never thought I would write this 1/10/2007

I'm amazed, but acupuncture really has helped my cravings for drink go away. I was drinking every night, and drunk 3 to 4 nights a week. I was suffering memory loss and loss of mental focus at work. I signed up for 10 treatments. After the first treatment, my craving was less. After the 2nd treatment, I was going 2 to 3 days without a drink. I'm writing this after the 3rd visit, and I can't believe it - I've gone a week without a drink. I look forward to the rest of the visits. I've looked into this, and see that it's good for other addictions too. I'm going to tell my friends who understand.... Pros: Enviroment, care and attention more

Outstanding - Acupuncture Does Work! 12/11/2006

In April, after an eye exam, my optometrist told me that I was suffering from pressure on my eyes. My optometrist had given me drops to combat the pressure in my eyes, which after using for awhile helped somewhat. However, the medication left my eyes red and a follow-up exam a few months later revealed that the eye pressure had increased. This problem along with stress and what may have been the onset of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my right wrist, led me to begin researching acupuncture and if it could benefit me. I searched many sites, including Citysearch. That?s were I came across Asia Tui-Na Wholeness. The reviews regarding it were favorable and since it is within walking distance from my job, I decided to call and set up a meeting. I met with Dr. Li and after a medical consultation, she started the acupuncture session. After that first hour long session, I felt relaxed and the pain in my wrist had lessened. After my second session, my eyes were feeling much better and the pain in my wrist was gone and hasn?t returned. After my third session, there was a follow-up eye exam and to my surprise, my optometrist told me that the eye pressure had decreased greatly, and I noticed that the red eyes that I suffered from have cleared up. I continue to receive acupuncture sessions each week and they always leave me feeling very relaxed. Also, I have found that in addition to helping relieve my stress and pain, I have a new found energy. Thank you, Dr. Li and thank you, Asia Tui-Na! Pros: Skill of Dr. Li, professionalism of staff, clean facilities, relaxing atmosphere, great price and flexible hours. more

Great Deep Tissue Work but... 12/7/2006

I love deep tissue massage and they did a wonderful job on that;however, their space was lack in privacy. I could not relax throughout my session. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for relaxing bodywork in a quiet room with candles and music. You might like this place if you want to get rid of your muscle tension in your neck or back. more

Bizarre Experience 11/29/2006

You can't beat the price that's for sure. But the experience is a little off. The curtains separating the treatment rooms is pretty casual, but worse is the therapist talking on her cell phone with her blue tooth while she works on you. I found the massage too rough and asked her to lighten her touch a little, but that was hard for her to do. I left very sore and slightly bruised, as well. I guess I need a massage to be softer and more relaxing. Pros: Great price Cons: Too much pressure, too casual space more

The strongest massage in Manhattan!! 11/20/2006

I have chronic stress which manifests from my neck, shoulders and mid-back. I manage it with long distance running and massage. After the NY Marathon I tried Asia Tui Na. They have a therapist Lisa, who I must say gives the strongest, most deep-tissue massage I've ever had. And they gave me the full 60-minute hour, not 50 minutes like some salons do. I feel great. Amazing! more

Dynamite Deep Tissue 11/5/2006

This no frills massage is a find! I was sore the next day (an expected side effect of deep tissue work) but the results are amazing! My masseuse (Lisa) worked muscles and tension I didn't realize I had (in the scalp!!). The price is so reasonable and the staff has done a very nice job of curtaining off each area for a more private experience. The music creates a calming atmosphere. Pros: cost, skill of staff, attention to trouble spots Cons: semi-private, more doctor's office-like than spa-like atmosphere more

Facial acupuncture removed my acne! 10/21/2006

I had read reports about facial rejuvenation in the media. I wanted to try it myself because of a severe acne condition I'd had for years. Dr. Li prescribed a course of acupuncture combined with herbal medicine and dietary recommendations. After 6 weeks, the subcutaneous swelling had gone down and the surface of my face was clear and smooth. I look and feel so much better! Pros: Dr. Li is a great healer and she's nice to talk to! more

The best got better! 10/18/2006

This was my first visit since their move a few months ago. Their crisp new offices are even cleaner, like a doctor's office. And the service is prompt and personable. I've had different kinds of massages in New York, from expensive half-day spa affairs to the $10 chair-backrubs in Central Park. But for renewed energy and pain-relief, Asia Tui-Na's deep-tissue style is still the best! Pros: A lot for a little $$ Cons: Pls put a branch in Queens! more

Wow! Professional! 8/18/2006

I was customer at Asia Tui Na's first location half a block away, and also at some other Chinese massage places in the city. I've never seen one like this new location is different - like a professional doctor's suite with Chinese decor. Same reasonable prices and fantastic massage and cupping as they had before. I always come out feeling calm and energized. There are offices for the acupunture doctor and a philosophical-spiritual counselor, both Ph.D.'s. Maybe I'll try sometime. Pros: Atmosphere, cleanliness, professionalism Cons: I live in Flushing, very far away! more

  • Tui-Na is Chinese massage. It is an ancient form of Chinese therapeutic deep-tissue bodywork. It brings stimulation to the muscles and circulation, and targets the body's energy meridians. It allows blocked energy to flow. It is based on ancient Chinese medical principles, which teach health as a balance between Yin and Yang, and an unblocked flow of "Chi," or vital energy.
