Overpriced, small portions. 7/18/2006

I agree with the previous reviewer. This isn't cruise ship food. Cruise ship food isn't overpriced and you'll never walk away from a cruise ship table hungry. The food isn't bad here at Asia, it's just too expensive. Drop your prices about 30% and we'll see you again. If it's the owner replying to reviews on this site stop it, it sounds desperate. It you have big pockets and a little appetite, this is your place. Pros: Decor, Location Cons: Over priced, small portions more

Wonderful food! 7/6/2006

I am not an owner or affiliated in any way. I am a patron who is very loyal because of the amazing food and unbelievable service. I eat there at least once a week. In case you don't believe me, my name is Karen Fehlker, I have lived in Atwater for 6 years and think this is the best addition in a long time. \r \r I requested removal of the last post because it was obvious the guy hadn't even stepped foot inside the restaurant - and that's unfair for any review. As you can tell I'm not one of the anti-westsiders, and I'm not even going to address that issue. This place is great. End of story for me. Pros: Unbelievably good! Cons: None! more

Worth every penny 7/6/2006

From the very first time I came to this restaurant I've had nothing but amazing food. It's rare that I get the chance to go, but when I do it's worth every penny, and worth the freeway traffic.\r \r Even our friends who are extremely difficult to please, who have very high standards when it comes to food, rave about the quality of food at Asia. It's the first time I've ever heard anyone praise rice so highly, and that is only where the praises began.\r \r Even the simpler fare is prepared and presented with such care that it becomes a feast. I wish every restaurant in this price range were this good. Pros: Great food, great service Cons: It's too far away more

Fantastic Food, Ambience and Service 7/1/2006

The star of this restaurant is the food - spectacular presentation, amazing flavor pairings, and mouthwatering taste. The ambience is beautiful, and the service is unparalleled. My husband and I have become regulars since this place opened and not once have we had anything but an amazing meal and off-the-charts service. The sushi is wonderful, I've heard people say it tops Koi. The dishes are imaginative and tasty - I highly recommend the blonde lobster mac 'n cheese and the korubuta pork chops (known as the kobe beef of pork chops - and it did not disappoint.) I don't usually write these things, but I just had to recommend this unbelievably good restaurant! Pros: Service, Style, Amazing Dishes more

best sushi in los feliz and surrounding areas 6/29/2006

ok so we tried this new restaurant a few days ago, not knowing what to expect.....i have to tell you that we were presently surprised.....the sushi is some of the best around....i've had sushi all over los angeles and this is right up there in the top 5.....the fish was fresh and the specialty rolls are awesome.....try the asia roll and the spicy tuna biscuit....the spicy tuna here may be the best that i've ever had....the seared albacore sashimi and something called the oasis (i think) were incredible.....there is nothing in the silverlake, glendale or los feliz area that can compare....to get something better you'd have to drive to studio city or go to ""Wa"" on la cienega. The servers were very attentive as well. Our server told us that the food from the kitchen is just as good....next time. Pros: great food and service more

Mediocre at best 6/29/2006

Sat at the sushi bar and was not that impressed. Sushi chef cutting the fish incorrectly is never a good sign. The fish quality wasn't awful, stick with the tuna and yellowtail everything else was a tad off. Spend your money in Little Tokyo or some of the Ventura restaurants. On a positive note, met the owner (nice guy) because of a mishap with our ""DIZZY"" waitress. more

Great new restaurant 6/4/2006

My boyfriend took me to Asia last night and it was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had the Tuna steak sashimi with japanese salsa and the Filet mignon sate for appetizers, both dishes were excellent. The presentation on the tuna was beautiful. For dinner I had the Mac n cheese with truffles and he had the lamb chops...again both dishes were incredible, for dessert we tried the thai crepe and it too was wonderful....this is a new restaurant that everyone should try......I know I will be going back again and with more friends.... Pros: excellent food, attentive service Cons: n/a more

Wow What a restaurant 6/1/2006

My friends and I, had dinner at Asia last week and all we could say is WOW!!!!!!! Everything we had was absoluely amazing. The sushi and sashimi were exellent. We ordered something called ""green snow"", crab meat and avocado wrapped with tuna sashimi, I don't even know what the sauce is, but it was light and refreshing....the scallops dish and the filet mignon was unreal.....not to be out done, the service was attentive as well....manager and owner stopped by serveral times to assure that we were happy.....it's hard to believe that they have only been opened for 8 weeks. Visist this restaurant now, in the future you may not be able to get in....... Pros: excellent more

Great time 5/18/2006

I decided to try the new Asia restaurant on los feliz for my birthday. It was amazing!!!! I loved the Lamb chops with mango salsa. The smell of it alone made my mouth water. I also had some great sushi called the ""oh my god roll"". The price wasn't cheap but the food rivals any other for the same cost. I will be coming back often that is for sure. Oh yeah, the owners came up to my table to make sure everything was ok. I love this place!!!! Pros: food, service, Sushi Cons: costs, valet parking for $5 more

Still some work to do! 5/16/2006

I sat at the sushi bar on Sunday night and received two pieces that were frozen. I asked the chef and he said that the refrigerator was set too cold. Asia, is a nice restaurant but it's missing a warmth I get from some of my fav restaurants. They need to address the staff and let them know that they're not a Sunset Blvd restaurant. It's like dating someone who thinks they're a 10 when they're really a 7. Asia might go over well in Riverside, but the competition in Los Angeles shows every flaw. If the owners read this; purchase a higher grade of fish, spend more time on the customers (eye contact is important, especially when there's only 9 people in the restaurant), employees shouldn't be putting make-up on and talking on their cell phone. It's the little things that make us come back. Pros: Location Cons: Food Quality, Service more

To die for sushi! Atwater is on the map! 5/12/2006

I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THIS PLACE! Incredible sushi! Better than some of the most touted in LA. Diverse menu, delicious soju cocktails (you won't know it's not hard liquor) and the ever attentive staff make this my all time favorite in the area. I've been three or four times since it's recent opening. The owners are SO friendly, they'll come to your table and make sure all is well and suggest some off-menu items. I love the samurai roll and the lobster bisque is heavenly. Park down the street and save $5.00 Pros: Exquisite sushi, Huge portions, atmosphere Cons: can't afford to eat , here every day! more

Too big for it's briitches. 5/5/2006

Wow are they trying hard to be something they're not. Incredibly high prices, snotty service and mediocre food made me feel like I was being ""punked"" throughout the entire meal. $18 soup? $45 steak? $5 edamame? The decor is straight out of a design mag - page 7, page 9, page 31, page 54 - the designer copied some interesting ideas but didn't know how to put them all together. You see this a lot in hotels. Also, $5 Valet??? Ouch! Pros: Location Cons: Price, Attitude more
