Best

My family and I eat out quite a bit so we acknowledge the fact that every restaurant has its own style of food and service. Arcodoro's food and service is top notch. Chef GianCa...

The place is a great stop for a drink at the bar or outside. The food has a lot of thought to it and does true justic to authentic Italian food. If your used to over spiced, ove...

THE HIGH POINT OF THE WEEKEND 12/18/2002

A late dinner at Arcodoro last Friday night proved to be one of the high points of our Houston weekend. Our party of four arrived at 9:30 and the restaurant was packed! The food was outstanding. Our dueling appetizers were the Mozzarella con Funghi Trifolati (my personal favorite) and the carpaccio of beef filet mignon. For an entree, I chose the Dover sole. One of our companions ordered the venison chop, which was as good as I've ever tasted. An excellent wine list offered plenty of choices to complement our meal. Afterward, we didn't think we could possibly make room for dessert, but managed to share two outstanding choices with our coffee. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive, and the atmosphere lively. And, unlike some restaurants I've visited recently, you could still enjoy conversation with your companions. We look forward to a return visit. Michal Bagley Austin, Texas Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIANCE more

Wonderful food 12/18/2002

I dont have words to describe what a great experience was to visit this restaurant, from my welcoming by a profesional italian Host to the well mannered cuban waiter who made our night delighful by recommending us a fine sardinian wine. Our anniversary dinner was just Magnifico!..We looking forward to repeat our visit because there are a lot of italian restaurants in Houston but this one certainly is UNIQUE Pros: First Class Service, Valet Parking, Great italian cuisine Cons: Crowded on Saturdays more

One more word... 11/17/2002

I only wish I had read this information before I went out Saturday evening with my wife. What a disappointment!!! more

Enough for me 11/6/2002

I am a big guy. I won't say that I am stuffed when I have left here but I will say that I enjoyed the experience and always look forward to coming back. I appreciate that I am not bombarded with mediocre food when I am here. The food is excellent and is to be enjoyed and savored. If I wanted to be stuffed, I'd hit the buffet line somewhere. Pros: parking, nearby activities Cons: crowded at times more

Terrible food, beautiful people 10/30/2002

The restaurant's location is great, and when you drive by, it looks extremely attractive, especially for outdoor dining. The crowd appears sophisticated and attractive, and the waiters aren't bad looking themselves. But the food is absolutely awful. All sauces were lacking in flavor, the presentations were quite ordinary, and the price did not at all meet up to what the product should have been. Appearances sure fooled us! We were very deceived, and never plan to revisit this restaurant again. Pros: Location, Outdoor dining, Attractive clientele Cons: Terrible food, Expensive more

Don't go hungry! 10/23/2002

If you are hungry, you better go ahead and plan on ordering two entrees for yourself. I am a petite person and the pasta that I ordered did not fill me up for the price that I was paying, much less my 6'5 husband who also ordered pasta and then went home to make himself dinner again. It is safe to order the pizza because you are actually getting what you pay for and a full stomach. The service was extremely slow as if we were a burden to be at their restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone that is hungry or wants good service. Pros: good decor Cons: small portions, poor service, no free bread? more

So it isn't in Montrose-- it's tasty 9/1/2002

I was a skeptic when I walked in the door. I was certain that it was just another Cheesecake Factory-- attractive to non-Houstonians who were looking for ""haute"" cuisine. Not that I am lauding Cheesecake Factory as being 'haute,' but to some, CF seems exciting and innovative. I feel as though I have sampled Houston's best Italian food-- Prego, La Trattoria, Osteria d'Also, to name a few-- so I feel like I come to the table (no pun intended) ready to criticize and appreciate as well as the average Houston-based epicurean. The food was terrific. The mild-cheese stuffed pasta with veal and tomato sauce was delicious, as was the carpaccio al tartuffo-- wonderful rare beef with a hint of truffle oil and lightly sauteed mixed greens. My housemade linguine with clams left a little to be desired in the sauce category, but the pasta was fantastic. Pros: Great service, Hip ambience, Good wine list Cons: Pricey for Italian more

Never again 8/30/2002

The service here was extremely slow and the food was not what it should have been. The pasta was undercooked and bland, definately not worth the price. We will not be back. Pros: nice ambience Cons: bad service, overly priced more

European chic 8/14/2002

An updated, former Charley T's type atmosphere, with lively and diverse clientele. The food is excellent, wait staff talented and personable and private dining facilities quite nice. The bar can be a lively place during European sporting events and outdoor dining is comfortable with a good, open view. Pros: interesting crowds, good food, good patio more

Fabulous restaurant 7/24/2002

Set in the middle of the Galleria area, Arcodoro has a classy and chic atmosphere. The decor of the restaurant-exquisite flowers, chandeliers, and paintings is enough of a reason to visit this restaurant. The menu, although you will not be able to pronounce most of the items unless you are Italian, is divine. This is one of the few places where the waitstaff can honestly say, ""I recommend everything"". Speaking of the waitstaff, Arcodoro boasts one of the most well trained waitstaffs in the city. They are extremely polite, friendly, and the respect your space and time; not to mention the fact that they don't try to coerce you into their specials. The customers are definitely always right at Arcodoro. Pros: romantic, wonderful food, nice ambience Cons: expensive more

Bellisimo!! 7/13/2002

Had lunch here twice in 7 days. Buffalo mozzarella is best I've tasted outside Italy. Ravioli are excellent. Service and food are extremely consistent and professional. A definite repeat for me. Pros: ambience Cons: pricey more

Good food, try the grappino! 6/21/2002

Have gone twice in the past few weeks, once for a wine tasting and once for lunch. The tasting was fun, located in the back room and overseen by their event planner (who is great!). Lunch was even better. Started off with just a basic salad, the dressing was tasty and plenty of shards of parmesan. Good, crusty Italian bread. For the entree I had the tanglione con frutta di mare (I know I massacred the spelling!) and it was FANTASTIC. Light, with enough seafood (shrimp, scallops, calimari and mussels) to enjoy a treat with every bite. Ended it with refreshing sorbet, the apricot was my favorite! Also tried a bite of tiramisu and it was great (though a bit too much whipped cream). Pricey, but I would recommend it for a special dinner or for business. The Sardinian flavor is unmistakeable and unlike any other restaurant in Houston. more
