Home away from Home 8/13/2007

Family of 7, tired and hungry, vacationing for the past 4 days and nights, walked in, no reservation, treated like King, queen,&prince & princesses. Try the lobster apetizer ""the greatest"". Osso Bucca, Arcodoro must have invented it ""Amazing"". Service, from entertaining my youngest to allow my wife and I to relax over wine to having good family felt care at the table, the staff is a 5+ star group. Great mood italian opera ""Bocceli"", and the bread, Forgetaboutit! It was the best. Wine by the glass was top notch and the suggestions of the waiter and chefs were a palitable explosion of Italian flavor. My wife and I both eat out in Louisiana often and she is third generation Sicilian. She and I both thought is was one of the most delightful dinners we have ever shared with our family. I felt no pressure to be anybody but myself in this ""Home away from Home"". Pros: Walking In more

high priced average quality italian 7/17/2006

great space in the galleria and unexpected warmth. although the food was overpriced. the idea of the pork fileto is fab, the delivery is sub par. tough meat and pastey sauce. for 28 bucks i want the 4 medallions to melt in my mouth. the veggies were delicous and buttery. my girlfriends pasta was amazing until i realized 18 bucks for a spoonful serving. our server was super. the support staff great. my water glass always full. i have no problem paying 80 bucks for a 2 person meal and no drinks, but it ought to be great!!! Pros: service Cons: value more

Pleasant rustic Italian meal 4/17/2006

Enjoyed a wonderful hearty and rustic gnocchi with wild boar pasta as well as a salad, washed it down with the signature grapparita cocktail. The food was delicious and enjoyable. I would return to try another one of their Sardinian inspired dishes since they sound so intriguing. Dishes seem pricey, there were families so large groups and children are welcome, if managed well. Pros: food, service, location, parking more

Great if you like authentic italian-by an Italian 2/11/2006

I have been to Arcodoro several times, being myself from Italy. It is an excellent place to dine and the food is great and authentic. I am convinced that the few bad reviews I have found here are written by people that think they eat Italian when they go at the Olive Garden or the Spaghetti Factori....bleah! So, if you want excellent italian food, this is the place to go. If you want fake italian food (like fettuccine alfredo and overcooked spaghetti) go somewhere else... more

A great place to spend Sunday! 11/6/2005

Boy, do I love going to this place on Sunday! We went with the dinner club Eight Friends Out on Sunday for brunch and mimosas. I'm a vegetarian so I had Farfalle ai 4 Formaggi, 4 cheese bowtie pasta, and it was light and tasty. The Insalata Paesana was also light and refreshing, with mixed greens, baby tomatillos, red onions, and pears sliced so thin you could see through, with goat cheese in a light vinaigrette! The dessert was hazelnut ice cream topped with fresh berries in a mirto liquor, topped with a pistachio nut biscotti. So light and divine, I thought I went to heaven! Well, I did! I went to Arcodoro! ;) P.S. The staff is perfetto! Very attentive, very friendly, and top notch! Pros: Wonderful staff, Lots of parking, Excellent food Cons: A little pricey more

Wonderful Dining Experience 3/11/2005

4 of us had lunch here a few weeks ago and everything was so fresh and wonderful. The waiters were very attentive and the atmosphere was very quaint. They have a wonderful patio when the days are nice. Convenient to the Galleria when you need a break from shopping. more

Great Place For Special Occasions 2/4/2005

Before anything, I hate to be rude to the negative commenters on this restaurant, but the fact is if you are trying to find a restaurant to feast this is not for you (Try pappas restaurants if you want to really let loose). Overall, the food is excellent, though nothing out of the ordinary. The main attractive parts about this restaurant is the atmosphere which is quite unique and must be experienced. The wine is great too. Pros: Ambiance, Atmosphere, Food more

No good! 1/16/2005

My boyfriend and I were in the Galleria area and were trying to find a place to eat before our movie started. We thought we would try Arcodoro on a whim. Well, what a disappointment! My boyfriend ordered some wine and they did not have it so the waiter just brought out another one without asking him first which I thought was rude. They did not have any iced tea for me, they had ""not made any that night yet"" and I waited almost until our entrees hit the table before I finally received my drink. Meanwhile I was eating the bread and so thirsty. Our entrees were so overpriced for their mediocore taste and quantity. Our waiter just say us a total of about 3 times to bring our drinks, food and check. Won't be going back any time soon. Cons: , ambiance, service more

What did you expect? 9/13/2003

The place is a great stop for a drink at the bar or outside. The food has a lot of thought to it and does true justic to authentic Italian food. If your used to over spiced, over done american style Italian this is prob not the place for you. All and all Arcodoro puts a strong effort in everything they do, it comes down to what you expected from authintic Italian. food! If you have been to Italy than you know exactly what this place has to offer!!! Pros: Interesting crowd, great wines, great service Cons: small servings more

Great Experience! 6/18/2003

I went last Thursday night and what an experience it was! My wife and I had two great pasta dishes that no other restaurant could compare to. Wine selection was absolutely amazing and we even found our favorite one! From the ambiance to the IMPECCABLE service from Paul, we will definetely be back to visit. Pros: SERVICE, Food, wine selection more

Wonderful! 5/15/2003

This is the place to be!!! I had such a wondeful experience this past Saturday night. Had a drink at the bar with one of the best bartenders I've seen and then proceeded to my table. Service was flawless, ask for Paul the next time you go! Food was the best Italian/Sardinian I've had in a long time from Houston. Pros: Service, Ambiance, Wine List Cons: Bar can be loud more

TERRIBLE FOOD; WASTE OF MONEY! 3/9/2003

Do NOT go here at ALL costs. The food was TASTELESS and the portions were MINIMAL at best. The chicken had NO flavor whatsoever and was tough and chewy. For goodness sakes, the Olive Garden is better! The decor, though, is excellent. Pros: Decor Cons: Expensive, Terrible food, Dwarf-like portions more
