Best place to get robbed! 3/11/2009

This place is a RIP-OFF!!!!! Although the food is good, be prepared to pay through the nose. No, the prices on the menu won't get you but the owner will. This is one of those restaurants that puts your credit card through TWICE when you use it. We got charged on our debit card once for the total without tip and once for the total with tip 2 days after our visit. In addition, because it was on our debit card, it took the money right out of our checking, causing us to have an overdraft on our account. I called the owner and all he said was he would look through his paperwork. The next thing I knew he had someone from his credit card place calling us back. This poor guy had no idea what even happened. The owner, who speaks little english, only knows how to get money out of people and pass the problems onto someone else. When I told him I'd give him a bad review, he said "I don't care". This problem is yet to be resolved and we're yet to get our money back...$120 in overdraft fees on top of it. I think they were counting on us not to check our statement! If you go to this restaurant, pay in cash and hold on to your wallet when the owner walks by! Unfortunately, it's people like him who give Persians a bad name..... more

Misleading Prices 2/14/2009

BEWARE the dinner for 2 option. We went here for dinner looking to have a good meal that doesn't break the bank and thats not what we got. The dinner for two offers a selection of 3 appetizers and 3 entrees plus a salad for about $20 to $25. It looked like a good deal until we got the bill and it was $25 PER PERSON! It did not clearly state that in the menu, I had to go back and search for the small print at the bottom of the page. This was very misleading and I'm guessing it has happened to others. I thought we were getting to try smaller portions of all the items we ordered, but it was a waste of food (we were going out afterward and couldn't keep the doggy bag) and for the price it was not that good. We would never had ordered that much food for two nor spent that much money. I spoke to the manager of the place and he did't do anything. Come to think of it we did not get our salad either. I will not go back. more

Great all around dining experience. 8/18/2008

The food at Aperitif 21 was superb. We tried a few appetizers and each one was better than the next. For our main courses we split the Surf and Turf, Lamb Shish-Kebob and the Aperitif Seafood Grille. The seafood was fresh and the portions were more than generous for the modest pricing. The lamb was unique and came with a great sauce (I think it was called yogurt mint sauce). Lastly the Surf and Turf had a great mixture of seafood and meat that came in a great lobster sauce. The food wasn't even the best part of the meal. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff makes you feel right at home (probably why I felt compelled to write about my experience at the restaurant). Finally, the drinks were good and well priced. The bartender made our table a round of persian martini's, on the house, that was a perfect compliment to the food and atmosphere. I would strongly recommend this restaurant and plan to report back to see if my next dining experience there is as good as my first. more

  • In Short
The loungey restaurant's handsome buildout includes floor-to-ceiling windows and a vintage-looking bar dotted with stools. A fairly tight space makes the most of what it has; tables seem to pop up in every nook, but the overall effect is convivial, not claustrophobic. Impressionist knock-offs are nicely framed and lend French flair--something that's not necessarily reflected on a menu that includes a cheese steak next to hummus with pita and shellfish choices. Signature drinks make use of the namesake, but wine by the bottle feels like a better choice in the cozy space.
