High prices for little value. You think you're paying for the scene but its not that great even once you get inside. Tried to convince myself that waiting in line meant that there was going to something fun inside but was completely let down. They try too hard. more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ON MY BIRTHDAY WORTHLESS 11/7/2011

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ON MY BIRTHDAY WORTHLESS\r \r Hi everyone I am new to comments but this one I have to share!!!!!!\r If you ever decide to give a try on this horrible place RETHINK twice before. My friends made a reservation at this place for my birthday. The problem start when we arrived and the guy at the door made us wait for over 20 minutes before letting us going in!!! He blame that we did not have a reservation , so by the time we wore able to get inside I decided to Speak to the waitress about the issued . She was able to find as on the system in 2 seconds!!!!! At the table toke another 50 minutes to take the dinner order. Maybe an hour after they serve us the drink .Drinks???? Forget about it .... Then I finally decide to go over to speak to the waitress again and see if they could bring a list the drinks. He comes to me like WHAT DID YOU ORDER HONEY? (WITH HE'S SARCASTIC ATTITUDE). I said Sorry SR. I order drinks, appetizers and dinner about 1 hour a go and nothing has come in yet, could you please bring the drinks so we can get started???? He had the nervous to say that the house was full and the kitchen was about to close and he wasn't sure what was going on...... and he left us. Then 10 minutes latter appetizer's dinner and drinks wore all ate the table but not for everyone. Some of my friend's dinner did not come. So wore waiting again for the rest of the food to arrive and......... No food!!! We decide to speak to the waitress again and find out what is going on with this horrible place he said this I WILL BE RIGHT BACK WITH YOU GUYS!! And did not only come back, but also bring the check with him and NO FOOD for the rest of the us!!!! I was IN SHOCK, I was shaking, and I wanted to cry on my birthday I was treated like a SH... \r Me as birthday girl went to talk to the manager who also seems to didn't care about the situation because the only thing he had to say was: you want a discount right? I will take care of your bill sweetie.... I said don't get me wrong But this is not what I want!!!! I WANT THE FOOD AND DRINKS I ORDED AND I SAID: HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO BRING THE FOOD OVER TO MY TABLE????? . I Don't CARE ABOUT DISCOUNT!!!!!!!! HE HAD THE BALLS TO SAY ""I LIKE YOU HONEY AND HE JUMP, SMILE TO ME AND HUG ME""!!!! Seriously I think he was HIGH!!!! \r HE DID NOT BRING THE FOOD ANYWAY and we had to pay for the food that we did not eat and they included the TIP on the tab. we all pay cash because we refused to leave the tip for such a horrible service, and disrespectful treatment. When we wore getting ready to leave the waitress come in and said we owned the rest of the check which was the TIPS!!!!\r I said we are NOT going to Tip you because service was terrible and you guys don't deserve it!!! Tip usually is giving when GOOD service is Provided, Followed to good food and excellent costumer service \r None of these was provided. He called the security and they said we wore not going leave the place unless we pay the TIPS!!!!!I couldn't believe in what I was listen from this people!!!!!!!! We had a huge argument and nothing was done and we had to give 20% GRATUITY for been miss treated at the Now called AJNA BAR well KNOW as BUDDHA BAR \r DO NOT GO HERE EVER ! UNLESS IF YOU LIKE TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE AND \r BE CHARGE FOR A BAD SERVICE!!!!!!\r \r more

3 girls queueing at around 2.30am last pit stop on sat night out. Once past the bouncer the clipboard carrying lady still feels the need to ask if we are on the ""list"". We replied no and she still let us in!?\r Anyway once inside the decor is nice, it was half empty so not sure why they were turning customers away outside. Much of the crowd was tired looking, especially the ones that took table service, why would you pay to be miserable. Couple of redeeming points is that there was no cover charge, no queue for the bar and the music was fairly good. more

EH....... 12/24/2010

I NEVER LIKED THIS PLACE SINCE THE FIRST TIME THEY OPENED AS BUDDHA BAR. FOOD IS HORRIBLE. DRINKS ARE NOTHING SPECIAL, OVER PRICED. BUT PEOPLE AT THE DOOR??? SUCH A POWER TRIP. ALL OF THEM ARE REALLY UGLY AND RUDE. THEY HAVE TO STOP THIS FACE CONTROL CRAP.YOU HAVE TO PAY ME TO GO THERE AND I STILL WON'T. LAST NIGHT HAD TO MEET MY FRIEND THERE, UNFORTUNATELY PLACE WAS DEAD. HOPE THEY WILL CLOSE SOON. BUDDHA IS GONE THEY SHOULD FOLLOW. more

Knocked it out of the park! 12/10/2010

Last night I took my staff and a few key clients out for annual our holiday dinner. Upon entering Ajna, you start by walking through a ""tunnel"" like entrance that transforms you to a very-hip version of the Forbidden City (except with great food and booze). The space itself is huge, yet you feel very much at home. The decor is beautiful, somewhere between of ""The king and I"" and Jimmy Choo (if only they were that cool). We were a large group and the staff accommodated us with ease. Everyone at Ajna worked very hard to ensure our table was well fed and well-watered. For dinner, we had a little bit of everything; mouth watering salmon, delicious chicken and everyone at our table was raved about the steak. We had sushi, spring rolls, vegetable fried rice and bok choy. You name it, it all tasted great! To top the evening off, we finished with a sampler of chocolate pastries and torts that can only be described as superb. Would I go there again, definitely! Would I recommend this restaurant -- absolutely! more

Worst service in a long time 11/23/2010

The food and decor are nice but the service spoiled it. After a much too long wait for our main courses we asked for the check. We were only able to leave 45 minutes later. The staff was unpleasant and clearly not interested in trying to provide a reasonable minimal level of service. more

HORRIBLE! WORST DOORMEN/BOUNCERS EVER 11/8/2010

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Ajna has by far the WORST bouncers/doorman in all of NYC. We had a deal, setup through a promoter, for 30-40 ppl, buy 2 bottles, get one free. When we got to the door, the piece of s-it bouncers/doorman said only the 9 people standing in front would get in and that everyone else would not be able to enter. Are you f-cking kidding me? We ended up not going in and cursing out the power trippin bouncers. They ruined my gfs 25th birthday party. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. I hope whoever was at the door on Fri, Nov 5 around 1130 are reading this because all i want to tell this F-CK U more

Don't go here for dinners or parties. 4/21/2010

We celebrated my wife's birthday at Ajna Bar. It was a BAD call. The setting was nice, the food was excellent, and all of my guests enjoyed themselves, except they did not like the staff. We went there on a weeknight and there was a nice appropriate crowd in the lounge area. BUT the wait staff was annoying as hell and they kept rushing our meal. It was a party and we had to order multiple bottles of wine. Therefore we didn't order the 6 bottle of their least expensive wines. After the 2nd bottle, they told us they ran out. They kept interrupting to ask us to order more wine. We did. Later they brought 3 more bottles of the same wine we originally ordered but this was after we ordered several more of their expensive bottles. They didn't offer any apology or reason for their screw-up. They also didn't say anything like ""Thank-you for coming"" when we paid. They were pretty much asses about the whole thing. I will not go back. Pros: Nice Restaurant AND Lounge - courteous staff Cons: None more

nice place 2/16/2010

it was a great night. I could not have picked a better place for it! We had 8 people in our party on valentine night we had a nice table by the dj and the service was excellent and indeed great! We had waiter on hand all night long i had a small conversation with our Moroccan waiter he was so amazing kid who knows very well about the menu he gave me a clear idea of all the appetizer , dinner and sushi , he greet us with a nice smile asked all guest for allergies , he kept checking on our drink no complain at all , All our guests loved the ambiance , the food and the music was wow wow ( little loud !!!!) . we spent almost a $1000 but left happy we did not experience anything that these other negative reviewers have written more

Not as bad as I thought it would be 2/7/2010

My girlfriends and i go out for restaurant week all the time. I was disappointed to find out this was the only restaurant we could get a reservation most recently as all the other nicer restaurants were booked solid.\r \r I was very nervous to eat here as I had read so many terrible reviews online. GF's and I are all very successful businesswomen adn don't want to waste our time and money on bad food and terrible service.\r \r Overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The doorman was a little strange, he hung out outside of the unmarked and unnumbered restaurant dressed and acting like a patron of the restaurant, talking on his cell phone, not paying attention to people outside wondering if it was the right door. So finally I just walked in and he jumps over and opens the door for me, I foudn out he did the same thing to all of my girlfriends as we arrived at different times and none of us had been there before. \r \r The space is beautiful. It's very large and open, makes me think of a very trendy and upscale cheesecake factory as they can really pack em' in. The food was much better than people give it credit and I've been to all the nice restaurants in the city. Another cheese-cakelike move, they don't let you order only appetizers, everyone has to order an entree. What are we 15 years old? At a nice place like this they should let you do whatever the heck you want. Also, I tried to order a cocktail different from the drink menu and they wouldn't let me. I don't know if the waitress was too dumb to understand or if it was their policy, but they couldn't make a regular saketini, I had to have the disgusting fruit compote added. \r \r I will not go back, but I don't regret going. It wasn't as bad as people say and actually kind of a fun experience.\r Pros: Beautiful Space, great food Cons: Snooty and too many rules more

terrible in every way. 12/23/2009

last time I was there, was my final goodbye and good riddance from the Buddha Bar.\r After a nice dinner with my handsome boyfriend, I suggested we go to another place for a drink. We walked by the Buddha Bar and decided to have a cocktail there. \r The doorman was impossible. It was clear that the place was empty, since there was no line at the door. It was a cold and rainy evening, still the impolite doorman had to do his annoying dance of let's-keep-you-waiting for a while. I hate that. Does'nt make any sense, when there's no real reason for it. He inquired whether we're going to order food, and if not - we should get a bottle. I said we are not going to pre-order anything before we are sat and have a chance to look at the menu. He was rude and I was on the brink of leaving when we were finally let it. \r The place, as I suspected was indeed empty. At the very least two thirds of the tables were empty. \r The menu consists of amazingly expensive tacky drinks. \r Even though there was hardly anyone there, it still took forever for the waiter to come back and check up on us. After at least 10 minutes passed, I decided that enough is enough, and I don't want to spent another second in this vile place, that evidently know nothing about customer service. They put an act like they are the trendiest bar in town, when that's just a sad joke. \r I vow to never ever go back there again. I'll be delighted if they run out of business, as they should. Places like the Buddha bar should be deleted and erased from the recycle bin. \r \r by the way, for some very odd reason - this is the 10th time i'm getting an ""error"" message when trying to post this review. any else had these sort of issues? Pros: good for people that despise themselves Cons: expensive, unpleasant, rude, pompous more

Befuddlingly Bad 11/9/2009

We had a litany of issues with BuddhaBar Doorman showed us attitude despite having reservations for two couples. Maitre'd made us wait despite there being ample room Bar staff was rude. Waiter was difficult to understand and also rude. At that time we decided to walk out. We asked for the check for the still water that they had served us. Even there they ripped us off by charging for two bottles. We were in no mood to argue - Left the money and bolted. Never Again. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Almost Everything Else more

Door man will help this place go out of buisness (again) 10/26/2009

I've been there many times and used to have a decent time there for dinner, drinks, and have throw parties there with 10+ people.\r However... I will not be going back for a while- but will most likely give it another chance, just not until I walk by and see a different & more intelligent door man. 2 times in the last month the door man with the hair who thinks he's cool stopped me. There were four of us, my friend and his decent looking fiance, and my date who is a blonde model in her 30's. We were all dressed nice. We wanted to have a few drinks from the menu after the dinner we had elsewhere and he wouldn't let us in without buying a bottle. It was rainy and the place was obviously not busy and it was only and 10:30pm. \r \r Irrogant. \r \r They have a little trouble distinguishing between people that actually have money and those that just want to be seen.\r I smiled and walked away so they could continue standing there with nothing to do. \r \r Anyway, there will be no more bookings there and my expense account is going down the block. \r So, if by chance anyone from management sees this- I usually only go there with 2 or 3 people at a time (except for 3 weeks ago when I brought a group of 9 woman) but for now you have lost my business, but hey- I've only spent around 20k there but I guess thats not good for a goup of 3.\r \r You're gate keepers are costing you. \r When you change names (obviously for business reasons) you need to change people. It's your employees that get you results, not your name. Pros: Was a fun place before the attitude Cons: Lack of intelligence at the door more

Used to be good 10/23/2009

The worst night out ever 9/8/2009
