Be careful with the hostess 12/6/2008

I am a regular a the Buddha Bar and let me tell you how such a great place with great food looses so much with an hostess in particulat, her name is Amber, I asked her her name. She is rude, non accomodating, and with a passive aggressive attitude. She will do faces on purposes to make anybody feel unwelcome. I asked all my friends who go there and they all had the same impresssion about the same hostess.\r Please fire her or repriment her, otherwise me and another 20 of my friends will stop coming there. Pros: BAd Hostess Miss Amber Cons: Great weiters and weitresses more

Not exactly the Buddha Bar in Paris 11/26/2008

It's an OK place, but nowhere near the real thing on Place de Concorde. Music and the crowd made the original Buddha Bar special and this one unfortunately cannot compare. Pros: Good ambiance, food Cons: Way too pretentious more

The C at the Door 11/10/2008

So let me start by saying I am a regular to the NYC night scene and this c*ck at the door has no match and NO that is not a compliment. The c*ck i referred to is the doorman at the Buddha Bar God only knows what he thought of himself but he surely needed a reality check. helllooooooooooooooo d!ck head you're a door man for crying out loud not the messiah of the free world. I am not angry that the b*obs got in before me and I had to wait in line because i chose to cover my b*obs in the 40 degree weather. I am angry at how disrespectful this guy was I am not sure if it was the skin color issue or I wasnt dressed in the 3 ply sheets of charmin ultra exposing most of my assets or if I and my girlfriends were not gorgeous by his standard but if that was the criteria he sure did not fit it. He was rude, used foul language looked at everyone without exception as the dirt beneath his feet the guy may have been missing a soul. By the time you got in he soured the mood so bad that you no longer want to go in or enjoy the night. The village is filled with great clubs/bar/lounges I would skip this bar undoubtedly.\r In a way I feel sad for him maybe this was his only way of fulfilling an obvious size deficiency. Yes I have been to plenty of clubs with JACKA$$ES posted at the front door but this one is the king of all. To help readers identify him he is the most obvious c*ck at the door possibly of greek or italian descent and has JACKA$$ written on his forehead more

NIGHTMARISH! Worst NYC nightlife experience ever! 10/26/2008

I've never written a review before, but this place is so wretched, that I could not let my experience go untold!\r \r A friend & I had dinner in the restaurant at 8pm, which was nice - cool decor, good food & an attentive waiter. After dinner, we moved into the lounge to reserve a table & bottles & wait for our friends to arrive. (My brother & I were told in several calls that tables can only be reserved in person.) Once in the lounge, a terrific bouncer named Jerry introduced us to a man named Felix, who would help us for the night. I told Felix we needed a table for approx. 12 people & that we would buy bottles. Felix told us he would give us ""lovely ladies"" a nice table that typically goes for 4-5 bottles, for ""just"" 3 bottles. I know how this schtick goes, but went along with it, as it was my brother's birthday. The weather was bad, so we started to get some cancellations. Before we decided which bottles to buy, I asked our waitress, Michelle (who was very nice), if we could do 2 bottles instead of 3. She asked Felix & he agreed, but he made a big stink over it - we were only allowed to have a max of 10 people & Felix would let those 10 people in personally. \r \r When the rest of our friends showed up, Felix would NOT let them in - there were too many guys in our party. Felix never told to me there was to be a certain guy / girl ratio at my table. Needless to say, I went ballistic. I was able to get most of our party inside, after fighting with Felix, but Jimmy, the apparent owner & ruler of the door, refused to let 4 of our guy friends in, who were even willing to buy more bottles. I was disgusted at this stage. 2 bottles & $900 later, we left this hell hole & met the rest of our friends at One, where we had fun. Bottom line: Felix is a liar, Jimmy is a nasty human being, along with the rest of the rude bouncers, & the place is NOT worth the inevitable heartache. Please spend your hard-earned money in a place that will value your business & respect you! Pros: Ambiance, Jerry the bouncer Cons: Rude and conniving staff (i.e. Felix), nasty doormen, despicable treatment of customers more

worst experience ever 10/26/2008

Worst experience ever. Maybe going out to dinner there is a little better, who knows - but I can tell you right now, going just for the lounge/bar is a nightmare. I'll just sum it up with a brief example:\r \r I went outside for a couple minutes, and on the way out, I was sure to ask the stupid bouncer if I would have a problem getting back in. He was like ""oh absolutely not, you are good."" When I go to attempt to get back in several minutes later, the same moron told me he had no idea who he was, and directed me to the guy at the rope. Of course the idiot at the rope didn't remember who I was either. Bottom line, it took me 45 minutes to an hour to get back in. And I did have 2 bottles and a table - so it was not like I was some random right off the street. \r \r The table and bottles was a huge production as well - couldn't get all of my people in. 4 of my friends were willing to buy an additional 2 bottles, and still the bouncer wouldn't let them in. (after telling my group that that would be ok)\r \r Felix and Jimmy, I can't wait till this place closes down and you losers are out of a job. If you 2 were in my world you wouldn't last a second. You control a rope and you think you are big time? Nothing but a joke \r \r I hope everyone pays attention to all of the poor reviews that this place has gotten on this site. I didn't, and it ended up costing me\r Pros: nice decor Cons: pretty much everything more

Best Music In All Of NYC!!!! 10/22/2008

We just went here last weekend on a trip to NY. Let me just say once we discovered this place, we were there 3 nites in a row!!! The DJ is amazing, he plays a lot of middle-eastern songs, mixing them live with drums and percussion. It's hypnotizing. The place is spacious, trendy, and romantic. I loved it. Great service too. more

Enjoyable Dinner 8/11/2008

I recently dined at Buddha Bar along with five other friends. We were seated on top of one of the ultra trendy banquets suspended above a Koi pond where we could watch the fish literally swim under our feet. The service was impeccable. Our very attractive waiter stood post throughout the whole meal as we dined on Tuna Tartar, Chinese Style Roast Duck and phenomenal sushi including my favorite of the night the Green Dragon Roll. Too bad we only planned to have dinner or I would have stayed and joined the crowd in the lounge for drinks and music. All the more reason to go back again and not only try the food but the drink menu as well! Pros: Design, food, drinks more

Amazing Food and Amazing Atmosphere 8/11/2008

If you're looking for incredible asian-fusion cuisine and a fun-sexy atmosphere then you definitely need to make you're way to Buddah Bar. Their yellow-tail roll is amazing and their cocktails are spectacular. Pros: Ambeince, Food more

Poor service 8/11/2008

Ate there last week with a large work party (over 6 people). From the getgo the service was horrible. Sat in the bar/lounge area for a drink. Had to go to the bar to ask someone to servicve our table. With much attitude and about 20 min later someone came by to take our drink order. For $15.00 a drink you would expect much better service. Waited again about 20 min before someone came over to take our order. Of course the drink order was a priority from our server at $15 a pop! The food was actually fantastic. The service however was not. No one came back to check on us and actually served someone's dinner as her appetizer by accident. After about a 2 hour meal, we were ready to go. We had to ask 3 different people (waiter/busboy) to get our check. Again waited about 20 min until it finally came. It came-along with much attitude. Being that we were over 6 people they automatically tacked on 20% gratuity. This was extremely pompus of them to assume that there service was worth 20%... At this point we wanted to leave and just payed to bill-shame on us... I highly recommend the food however know that what you are getting yourself into before you go-a long wait with plenty of attitude and an extremely high bill. For the price of the evening you deserve more!!!! Pros: Amazing Food. Cons: Extremely poor service-long wait and pricey bill more

IDIOTS 8/11/2008

Worse place to go to. If you want to be treated like idiots, please go. The bouncer, Jimmy is an A SS HOLE! The idiot lets all sluts in, while normal people are on line. Pros: non more

Excellent imaginative special sushi rolls 8/8/2008

Fish was fresh and fantastic, the varied rolls, including lobster and sea bass were a great change of pace. Wait staff was attentive and friendly; room set the mood for great girls night out, and would be good date place too. Martini was great; lengthy list of specialty drinks too for some fun. Front of house lacked personality, and yes, door staff were lame but tolerable. Not sure where the highly negative reviews came from; saw two tour buses pull up filled with polyester-clad sneaker-wearing helmet heads which was certain to cause most ultra-exclusive wannabe restaurant/lounges to cringe, so... you figure it out. Pros: Sushi, drinks, ambience Cons: Front of house and door staff personality more

terrible service, rude staff, dirty food 7/13/2008

Went here with a friend Saturday night. The bouncers outside were nasty, rude, and very stupid. I tried to offer a 'tip' to get in quicker and the dumb ape outside just did not understand. Once inside, we ordered. My friend had the 'Rice Cracker Salmon' and 2 hours later we were in the emergency room. The doctor said their were infectious agents in the fish. From the rude staff, to the dirty food and people here, it is no wonder that Buddha Bar is closing down at the end of this month. I am glad to see it go. Cons: dirty food, rude staff more

Worst treatment ever! 7/12/2008

After waiting on a very slowly moving line for one hour, my boyfriend and I were next to go in. At that point, some man came outside and said that at this point we will only be allowed in if we agree to buy a bottle for $350!!!! Unreal. We waited patiently for one hour and the whole line was pretty much turned away. Additionally, earlier a group of six in front of us were told that they were not allowed to come in unless they agree to buy 2 bottles for a cost of 750! I have never encountered such rudeness in all my years of NYC nightlife. I will NEVER go back. If we wanted to spend $350 we would have done it before waiting in line for an hour!\r \r STAY AWAY! Very careless with customers who want to come in and spend money. They just want to rip people off for whatever they can get before they close down, which I predict will be within months. From what I hear, this place has been on a downhill slide since the day it opened. BTW the ""manager"" who looked like Ahmenijhad, was rude and nasty. Plus the bouncers encouraged people waiting in line to tip some hobo ""rapper."" At one point the bouncer said to a lady ""Since you didn't tip him you are gonna wait longer."" I am appalled at how they treated people. Bear in mind, the bouncer tipped nothing as well. more

Great looking venue, dont know too much since I just had drinks 7/7/2008

Very cool place. Reminds me of Tao in Vegas or something. The entrance has a circular design and has Buddha statues with in scents attached to their hands. Interesting. The front door staff let my girlfriend and I in right away despite turning down a bunch of people. Almost TOO dark in some areas. Really cool Buddha statue in the dining area. \r \r Nice place to people watch and grab a few drinks. more

Horrible, rude staff!!! 6/26/2008

The only good thing I can say about this place is that the bouncer was nice and the drinks were pretty good. That's pretty much it. First of all, the hostess could not seat us unless there were all 8 people present as was reserved. So we pretty much had to stand around until everyone else got there. Ourwaitress was very rude, when several of my friends were running late and even before they even got there she started cleaning our table and literally taking our forks and plates when we did not even finish our food. She was very arrogant and it seems like it really irritated her the fact that we wanted to sit and TALK!!! Even though we were ordering food nonstop. Every 2 seconds she was coming around and removing something from our table, to make a point that we need to leave!!!!! At some point she came and took the vase with the flowers from our table!!!! And this is all going on on my birthday while I am trying to relax after a long day of work and spend time with my friends. Extremely rude and arrogant service. And this whole ""everyone needs to be present"" to sit down at a table is unherd of. I'm extremely dissapointed by this place. Pros: Decor, music Cons: Staff!!! more

B.Bar is a thing of the distant past - I'd stay away... 6/17/2008

this place is a sad place - it lives on the reminiscent days of yore. My girl dragged me half wilingly to this place, after she saw a re-run of s..and the city -and wanted to go back there, see if it's still fun. First of all - what's with the antipathic bouncers at the entrance? when someone is going out of his way to not-be-nice and welcoming - is that a good/cool thing? am i supposed to be thankful for them letting us in, so we can spend money in their business? \r Once you go in - it's the 90's all over again - only this time it's empty - and the atmosphere is not pleasant, or welcoming. We sat at the bar - the bartender was nice all together. Booze is pricey - I have to say that the whole thing seems to me like a tourist trap. Personally I never intend to go back. Pros: it's empty - so you can always get a table Cons: not pleasant, antipathic staff, empty more

Loved it!!! 6/2/2008

From the moment you walk through the door you will be pleased. The decor, the help, the service all looks good. The food was very good & the waiter never missed a beat. I already recommended this place to all my friends & will go again. Pros: atmosphere, service, food more

Fun time 5/18/2008

I haven't tried dinner here, after hitting up another club in the area we came here on a Thursday night. The place wasn't empty but no where near overly-packed. The set-up and decor was pretty cool, I liked that there was a somewhat separated dining area and then the bar/clubbish area to the side, as well as the large buddhas everywhere. Drinks were regularly-priced and the bartenders were fast. Music was ok- it was all house/trance, which I like, however the selection they were playing wasn't the best. Wouldn't come here for an entire night out but I'd come back for a late night stop again. Pros: Cool decor, fun time, danced a lot Cons: Music can improve a bit more

NO NO NO NO NO!!! 5/14/2008

I'M DONE WITH BUDDHA BAR!!\r A few months ago a friend visiting from Europe had his birthday dinner at B.B. Poor experience! Extremely rude staff, the waiter actually mocked my friend who wasn't fluent in English and at the end had the gut to ask for a more consistent tip! I couldn't tell about the food as we all ordered mainly appetizers and I personally had decent fried calamari. But last night's experience revealed the real truth. I and my friends had decided to go to the place across from B.B. but unfortunately the waiting time was too long so we checked the closest place and UNFORTUNATELY BUDDHA BAR HAD A TABLE!!! As we were entering the man at the door made a stupid comment about my friend, the host showed far too much attitude, never said hi never smiled and never looked at me while i spoke he just told one of the cheaply dressed hostesses to take us to the table. The hostess who wore a short sweater only (what's with lap dancers at B.B.?) sat us in an empty hall far away from everyone and the thousand empty tables around us were not reserved! The service was the worst ever, it took them from 8 30 to 11 to serve the 3 of us 4 appetizers and 2 rolls. Our waitress Monica played the ghost all night and the few times she showed up at our table it was literally for a rushed minute. We saw the bus boys more than we saw her! \r The food was horrible, I ordered grilled asparagus and for the very first time in my life was forced to return the dish. The asparagus were uncooked, had a very bitter taste and were hard to swallow. The spicy Thai roll, that was served longer than 1 hour after the appetizers, was super dry had no taste and somebody forgot to add the spicy stuff. We didn't dare to order the dessert, we knew we'd have it the morning after for breakfast.\r Need to add the place has the tackiest decor in the city of the best design, I'd be scared to see it with the lights fully on. And of course the bill, needless to say, was high in numbers. For Buddha's sake!!!!!! more
