As most of you know, it is Restaurant Week in Denver, and it is my favorite week of the year! While the economy may have lowered our moods and our disposable income, this is the time that we can celebrate the fine cuisine that Denver has to offer and keep a bit of money in hand. It appears that Denverites are taking advantage of the amazing meals offered around town this week for only $52.80 for two ($26.40 for one). I have had a difficult time getting reservations at many restaurants. I was, however, fortunate enough to dine at a place I didn't even know existed until tonight. It is called 1515 and it is on Market and 15th in downtown Denver. The bar is on the ground level and one only needs to go upstairs to get to the dining room. The ambiance is lovely--urban chic, and the food is to die for, eclectic contemporary American cuisine! We had five people serving us all evening including the owner, Gene Tang, and the manager, Cynthia Aceves. The staff is some of the best I've found in this town and the menu for Restaurant Week is surprising and delicious. The restaurant's normal fare is even more so with Chef's Choice prix fixe, 5 or 7 course meals, with or without wine pairings, for cheaper than you could imagine. Oh, and have I mentioned the food is amazing? They even offer a wine pairing with the $52.80 menu with each course for only $15 more!
Pros: ambiance, food, wine, service
Cons: confusion over the bar on the main floor and not seeing the dining room right off
