I just got married and the wife a California girl never set foot on the Texas coast so I took her to SPI for the honeymoon. We got in late and did not know the hotel change names to South Padre Island Resort. I called the main desk they gave me directions and when we arrived the check in manager and desk clerk were very friendly and saved me 150 dollars (due to using a debit/credit card)! They let us pick our room and we got the top floor right on the beach! Incredible view!! I believe if you’re friendly and polite everyone around you will act the same way. That also goes with being rude, you act negative you get a negative result (bad service & rude staff). The only complaint is the bed & food, the bed was a little hard and the fruit for breakfast from room service was a little old and/or tuff. We had an awesome time there on the beach and at the pool. The bartender at the pool was super friendly and helpful she can make some good mean drinks too!! All the staff was very courteous and informative about how to get around paying and arm and a leg for food and fun on the island (tourist traps).For as old as the place is it is in good condition considering SPI is one of the most popular spring brake destinations in the US. To sum it all up, the hotel was on par with the amount that I paid and the service was above and beyond what I paid. I am defiantly staying there again!!\r The newlyweds
