My wife and I had decided to go to Chappys for my birthday on Sat night. The fresh baked bread was nice, so was the 4 butters, regular, strawberry, garlic, and alligator. The Fried Green Tomato appetizer was excellent. My Mardi Gras Lambchops were great, and my wifes Blackened Redfish was awesome both came with a salad. The Bread Pudding was nice though a little cinnamony. My wife had a glass of wine, I had tea. And a cup of coffe with dessert. All for $70 before tip. There was also a nice Jazz band playing. My wife and I are still pretty young and if this was a normal dinner and a movie Saturday night probably would have just went to one of the Chains that Nashville has. There would have been no dessert, no wine, and no coffe. Which even at some generic chain would have cost the same as at Chappy's anyway. If we didnt have any of those at Chappy's our meal would have been about $56. At any of the Chains we usually spend about $40 for an apetizer, 2 entrees, one salad added on, and a couple of teas.So its only about $16 more to have a great meal at Chappys vs some Generic Chain Restaurant. And at Chappy's the food is fresh, and well prepared. The staff did a good job, we had reservations, showed up a little late, but quickly seated. They werent excellent, but werent bad either. The restaurant is still new and Nashville isnt exactly known for having the type of restaurants where wait staff learn these skills.
