Trieste is hands down the best Italian restaurant in the Philly region and beyond. You just can't find quality like this anywhere else for the price. What restaurant outside of Little Italy in NY makes ALL of its pasta fresh? That includes the wrappers for the baked dishes and the layers in the lasagna, the spaghetti, linguini, etc. And, the red sauce will bring you back to being a kid again, with your Italian Grandma (or in my case, Grandpa) cooking in the kitchen. If you close your eyes, you will be taken right back to that childhood place, with all of the rich, multi-layered flavors of sauce being cooked all day long on a Sunday with multiple kinds of meats. One of the best features of Trieste is that they serve braciole!!! Name one other Italian restaurant where you can get this served over homemade spaghetti. You can't! The last time I had this dish, it was in my Italian grandmother's kitchen. Now, let's talk about the prices. Hello, $13.95 for several pounds of homemade pasta topped with spicy sausage, meatball, and braciole?!?! Amazing!!! Almost crazy, really, considering you'd pay that much or more than that even, for some crappy buffet elsewhere where the food is all pre-prepared and has been frozen previously. This is fresh, piping hot, homemade, outstanding food for rock-bottom prices. Another great feature is that from soup to nuts, absolutely everything is fresh and delicious, right down to the coffee and desserts. Delicious wine, too, and priced super reasonably. ($5 for a glass of Lumbrusco!) My only regret is that I've lived in Delco most of my life and I just discovered this place tonight. I actually feel depressed that I've wasted one second of my life eating Italian food elsewhere. Thank you, Trieste for an amazing dining experience! I can't wait to return!!!
