Review content:
I know there are plenty of fancy new washers and dryers on the market, with all kinds of global laundry positioning and magic-fold and such. But if you want clean clothes you can depend on year after year, my strong advice is that you head up to Weiskinds on Aurora and pick yourself up a pair of reconditioned Maytags. Unlike the all-plastic, built-to-break stuff being cranked out these days, these old Maytag washers and dryers are built like tanks - heavy-gauge steel bodies, baked-on enamel finishes, simple controls, and simple mechanisms that will run for years without a whimper. Oh, sure, you don't have a wide choice of colors - no 'deep teal' or 'winter moonrise' here, just pretty much white, white, and the occasional '70's harvest gold. But if it's clean clothes and reliability you want, you know where to go.
