The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and very personal. When I bought Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephews recently, the gift wrap was complimentary. The staff was eager to help customers locate toys, calling the other store to check stock or putting people on lists for things that were coming in that week (such is the Christmas season in a toy shop!). They also offer mailing services to send things out of town.
The toys are specialty toy-store toys - some things are overlapping with chains or discount stores, but the majority of toys are of higher quality (and often educational value). They do an excellent job of appealing to a wide variety of age ranges. They carry a variety of lines that can only be found in smaller shops, like Baby Gund.
If you're looking for a toy that won't be a duplicate at a birthday party or as a Christmas gift, or simply desire higher-quality service than you'll find at a chain, Tookie's Toys will fit the bill - it does so for me!
