Since this is the beta, I will be shameless about being nominating Acumen Fund as the first non-profit rated in NYC, but humble enough to say we are far from perfect... (but not too far). We do interesting and innovative work, raising philanthropic capital in the US and lending or investing equity overseas to provide "venture capital for the poor" or the 4 billion people on the planet who make less than $4/day. Innovative model at the cusp of proving that we can really crack the code on design, pricing, marketing and distribution of essential goods and services to the poor that don't depend on development assistance.
