Slow and either Swindlers or Incompetent and lazy. 7/21/2011

When I brought my bike in, Willy World was backed up and says that they couldn't look at my bike for 4 days, which actually ended up being 5 days. When I call them on the 6th day, they say that they've lost my phone and would have called the day before. They spent a total of 40 minutes looking at it (the spark plug was smashed and there was no compression in the engine) and based on those two things said that it would be $2-3,000 to fix it, obviously more than the bike was worth. This sounded a little fishy, so I called a bike shop in my home town, that I trusted, and gave them the situation and asked what their assessment would be. They said that it was impossible to tell what could be wrong with that information, but even if they had to rebuild the top and bottom of the engine (about a worst-case scenario) it would cost closer to $1,000. So in addition to being slow, Willy World was either trying to gouge me or just get rid of me. When my dad showed up so we could load the bike in his van, the fellow from Willy World declared that it couldn't be done and brought the bike to the bottom of the loading dock and brought out a ramp incase we wanted to try to work something out. Then the most helpfull thing he did was go back inside. I had to take the windshield and rear view mirrors off myself (with no assistance from the shop), bring the bike back up to the top of the loading dock, and then the fellow from the shop helped us push it into the van sideways. more
