My dad was admitted to this place. He had fallen and the resulting mental confusion made him weak and unable to walk. My mom and I had reservations after reading the reviews of this place. However, everything seemed okay at first -- the nurses seemed more readily available than at Tice Manor Care (where he'd been previously after back surgery) and appropriately caring. Still it took him weeks to show progress. That might have just been his condition, so I don't know how much I can blame on them. He was finally going to be discharged after being there for four weeks when that Sunday (a few days before discharge) my mom and I came to see him and found him sitting in a wheelchair out in the hall. He was jerking and shivering, mumbling to himself and making no sense, and was completely out of it. The day before, he told my mom his chest hurt and he was coughing. My mom asked them to investigate, but apparently no one ever did, because when she spoke to a nurse that morning, the nurse told her he was ""doing better."" He most definitely was NOT doing better. Yet when we called over the nursing staff, they acted as though they didn't know what was wrong -- when he was obviously completely delirious! We had him go to the ER that day, and they found his temperature was over 101 degrees. A couple of days later, it shot up to 105 and he had to go to ICU. Thankfully with antibiotics, his temperature went back to normal. They could not locate the source of his infection, but some speculated that it might have been a blood infection. His creatinin levels are still too high, so he needs IV fluids. I wanted him to come straight home to recover, but all of the hacks at Kaiser told my mom that it would be better for him to go BACK to Rossmoor. So he went back there, to a wing where the staff is even more blase and inattentive. Today, we sat with Dad in one of the common rooms while he ate lunch. On our way back to his room, my mom tripped over his IV stand and fell flat on her face. Thankfully, she's all right, but even though the nurses' station was right there, did anyone notice? Did anyone hear the loud commotion and come in to help? No. I went and told them my dad's IV needed to be rehung, and they were like, ""Wuh?"" His sheets are dirty. They aren't shaving him or washing him regularly. It's just a terrible place, and my sister and I have been pressuring my mother to get him out of there, the sooner the better. more
