At this time a rating is a mute point. This is more of a farewell......and to say I am really sorry it took the anouncing of the store closure and a 50% off sale to fill our beloved VONS' parking lot this week. I am equally sorry, that a bunch of really fine people,(the employees) some of which have been there since BEFORE Vons, will now go their separate ways, on to different stores to resume their career with their company. Emabarassing, is the fact, that the majority of those that entered those doors for the last time, for the ""Big-Blow-Out-Sale"", probably hadn't set foot in there, since the competitor moved in. I only wish our locals had rallied around this store. Giving it continued support. Our VONS may have not had all the bells and whistles of the others, ""shopping baskets with cupholders"" and ""kiosks with coffee"", but now, instead, we lose a really great, big name chain store, with that small, home-town feel. What this town now loses is much more. We lose people that catered to the elderly. Always helpful and smiling. They assisted the mothers with their young children when they came through their lines. And may I add, if they did not have a particular item, all you had to do was ask. The management would order it, if available, and it was there the next week. And when they asked, if you needed help out to your car, it was genuine. So let me be the first to say, I will sacrifice baskets with cupholders and a cup of coffee, to remain loyal to a nice company with a great group of people. See you in Los Osos next week! You all will be sorely missed, and THANK YOU, for your years of service to us.
