I went to Rangmahal for the first time tonight after hearing rave reviews for a number of years. The only regret I have is that I had not dined here sooner! I've been to many Indian restaurants on Long Island and NYC, but Rangmahal is by far the best. The food was amazing, flavorful, creative and tantalizing (mushroom tandoori, navratan korma, chili chicken to name a few). The lychee bomb cocktail and mango lassis were also top notch as was the decadent dessert of mango with vanilla ice cream surrounded by a shell of chocolate and fresh coconut. The food itself will keep me coming back for more, but I must say that while the food was delicious, the most refreshing aspect of Rangmahal was the service. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by the owner as if we were long time customers. She was warm and friendly and more than willing to explain the specials to us and answer any questions we had. The chef also made several trips to our table to make sure we were satisfied with each course. I loved the food so much that I wound up ordering another meal to bring home to my husband--he also loved the food. I will definitely return to Rangmahal as soon as I can.
