I went out to Gnocchi a few weeks ago with a group of friends for a night on the town. We tried to make reservations and were told we couldn't. When got to the empty restaurant, we were berated for not having reservations. That should have been a sign to us. It took us 40 minutes to get a waiter to our table to take our order. Once they did, our food took about the same amount of time. Around then (80 minutes later), the restaurant started to fill up. Although there were empty tables throughout, the hostess started to promise our table to a group waiting outside. However, we were still eating our food (decent but not anywhere close to Philly's finest Italian--or gnocchi for that matter, despite the restaurant's name). Given, the people outside were classless and staring at us, but it didn't help when the hostess went outside and started mimicking us until she realized that we saw her doing that. She turned bright red and came back inside to stand near our table. Guilt eventually overcame her and she came to tell us she wasn't talking about us--which was a clear indication that she was. We were horrified by how rude these people could be and how ungrateful of patronage. On top of it all, it just wasn't even worth it. We would've been better off going to any one of Gnocchi's greasepit neighbors on South Street...they would at least have been friendlier... more
