Super Cheap Cut! 1/17/2006

Although it may take a bit longer than a regular salon, getting your cut at the Academy is a great bargain and often a fun experience. A student cuts your hair under the guidance of their instructor, who makes sure you are satisfied with the results before you walk out the door. You can't beat the price, and I've never been unhappy with the results. more

great cheap haircut 8/13/2005

Get your haircut by a student at this trendy academy. World reknowned techinques are learned here by students from all over the world. I went for a haircut on a weekend, it included a shampoo, cut, and finish. It was $24. If you're a student go on a weekday and it's $10, otherwise it's $20. I think it's a great deal, the only drawback is that it does take time because there are usually about 8-10 people getting haircuts at the same time and only 1 instructor. The instructor walks around from each student and checks on their work. My haircut took 4 hours. I really love the cut and the advice they gave me. If you have patience, this would totally be your thing. more

Perfect for variety of hair styles 8/6/2005

Great! Especially for students with college i.d. Funny thing is, it's located above Hooter's. Anyway, you need to call ahead of time for an appointment. During major holidays they're especially busy and probably would have to call a week or so ahead of time. If you have a college i.d., as of the last time I went, it was $10.00 only Monday-Friday, though. The first time I went it was $9.50. So, it may change by the time you read this, but it's still a good price. Plus, it's good to sort of have some idea of what you want. They give their own suggestions too. It's actually students (mostly people who already know how to cut, but are learning new techniques) who cut your hair. There's a head stylist who directs them and always checks up on you and the stylist. It actually takes about 2 1/2 - 4 hours including wait time and your type of hair cut because they're very meticulous and careful of how they cut your hair. It's quite an experience when you go the first time because you don't know what to expect. My friends, family, and myself have gone there and we've liked it 99% of the time we've gone in. Once in a while someone may not have liked just one little bit of it. Overall, pretty good. Now, if you go without a college i.d., it's about $20.00. They do coloring and some other things I believe at a higher price like any other hair salon of course. I only go there for hair cuts. Oh, and the only bummer is parking. I've seen a mix of people going in there. Looks like 20's and up. more
