I go in there at least once a month to see Eric, the owner and talk with him about the newest bikes and racing.
They help you out even if you bought your bike elsewhere.
If seen them doing minor repairs for free. I bought my Intense Tracer there and I love it.
Pros: The owner races, so he knows his stuff
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I went to five or six different surf shops in santa monica and none compared to this one. They made me feel welcome and helped me out with everything. They new what I was looking for and steered me in the right direction. Other surf shops, like ZJ and Horizons West weren't near as helpful. Santa Monica/Islands Surf Shop - or whatever they decide to call themselves - is the place to go. It's not near as expensive as the others either. If you don't at least check it out, don't blame me when you have buyer's remorse.

You bring your surfboard in, or whatever, and not more than two steps in, someone's like, "What up, dude?!?"
Then like three people swarm you and look at your board, and get you what you need.
Never, ever, been disappointed here. Screw those other places, that have like uninterested, pure sales clerks.
The dudes that work here are all surfers, and I think they'd much rather just chill, smoke a bowl, and get other dudes stoked on surfing too, than try to sell you a bunch of useless junk.
A+.
Pros: Fantastic customer service, good prices, parking in back, good variety.
Cons: Absolutely none.

I moved to LA from Canada where I grew up skiing. After having not been on slopes for a lot of years, I was out of the loop regarding ski gear. I found Doc's Ski Haus and was surprised that they actually know a lot about skiing (and snowboarding). It's was a surpirse since the mountains are so far away. Cool shop. Love the dog!
Also it's the wrong address on yahoo it's actually 2929 Santa Monica Blvd.beside the Wine Expo
Pros: Cool staff and great gear

Great selection of bikes and cycling gear, from the beginner with training wheels to the expert technical mountain biker. The best part is that they let you take any bike out and ride it up and down the neighboring streets, unmonitored! I bought a high-end dual-shock mountain bike there and was impressed with the young man who helped me. He had good specific knowledge of the brands/models I was interested in comparing, and when I chose the one for me, he demonstrated how to execute all the important adjustments for my height, weight, leg length, type of ride desired, etc. He was very helpful. This is a fun place to bike browse even if you're not in the market--they always have all the cutting edge gear in stock.

Undeafeated, both the Hollywood and Santa Monica store carries a lot of cool sneakers like Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc. You cannot find most of these shoes in the mall or outlet store or even Nike Town. The Hollywood store is especailly cool, they have several pairs of not-for-sale sneakers for display by the cash register. The price is so hot that you can't even resist. Every penny is worth it. They sometimes have special edition sneakers in store.

The art scene is big in Santa Monica, and BGH is a main reason for it.

Handmade soaps, bath 'bombs' and facial scrubs are some of the more popular items, and ingredients include banana, almond & coconut. Splash also puts together bright, happy baskets that make wonderful gifts. It's sensory overload when you enter the store, but in the best possible way!
