A group of 25 friends and I had a party at Kingfish and it was the coolest experience ever! We had the area upstairs by the bar and we were in heaven. My friends were thrilled on ...

Kingfish 9/19/2006

Kingfish serves Cajun/Creole cuisine with a mix of seafood and steaks. Unfortunately I found the food to be expensive for what it was, and unmemorable. The restaurant somehow has a chain-restaurant feel to it to me. I did enjoy the appetizers we had, including calamari, and an impressively large platter of oysters, which were delicious. Large portions and good selection of mixed drinks too. more

Bad food 6/9/2006

I went here once and was unimpressed. The food was bad and expensive. I had the beignets which you would think would be their signature dessert, and they were awful. Cafe du Monde they are not! I'd much rather have a donut anyday than the beignets here. The service was unspectacular. I can't speak to the drinking (which they advertise highly) since I don't really drink, but there are probably nicer bars out there if that's your goal. more

Fun, not too expensive for a night out! 8/4/2005

This is definitely upscale. It's loud but fun! My brother went to school at Tulane in N'Awlins, so I remember the Louisiana cuisine. Let's start with dessert - my favorite! How to choose, how to choose? Go with lots of friends and have a little of everything. I've had a bite of the bread pudding, the beignet, the creme brulee. Yum, yum, yum. The menu is relatively big which is good, because invariably in the Bay Area, you've got a vegetarian in the mix, but the non-animal choices are limited. I think what they have for vegetarians is probably good, but just doesn't jump out and inspire me. Lucky for me, I'm a carnivore and I have had the fabulous skirt steak. Gotta cap the night with a hurricane! Fun night out, convenient to Cal Train! more
