I attanded College of San Mateo for a summer school session. The location of this junior college is in a beautiful and scenic area. Th ecampus is a very good size, not too small or not too larger. The students and faculty are very helpful and friendly. the education at this school is very comparable to City College of San Francisco and Skyline College. Overall, it was a very good experience for me.

Junior Gym in the greatest! I got the pleasure to watch my neice and nephew attend a gymnastics class and was very impressed. I was a bit unsure of what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place that lets kids be kids but teaches them about fitness in a fun way. The teacher was a a young energetic guy who knew just what to do to keep several young children engaged while teaching them basic gymnastic skills and keeping it fun. I will recommend this to all my friends with young children.
A side note, they play great music during the classes!
Pros: Fun, clean, energetic and low cost!
Cons: None that I can think of

Saint Matthews Episcopal Day School offers really good education with an emphasis on smaller classes and individual attention. I work in the daycare industry and I got to know a lot of daycare businesses in the area. Saint Matthews Episcopal Day School really offers really good services to parents in the San Mateo county. I highly recomend the school.

More
PRINTS has been in San Mateo since 1994 and in Emeryville longer. It is an accredited Montessori school that has bilingual education in either Japanese or Mandarin. They accept children as young as 18 mos. and go until middle school, although they have advertised they will be starting a high school in 2008. One big plus is that they potty train your child -- kids aren't required to be potty trained when they start, but are required to be put into training pants when they start.
It is an excellent Montessori school that is small and dedicated to the students and families. The Japanese program is excellent and has wonderful, caring teachers. Our sons have been in the school for 4 years and we plan on continuing there for years to come.

I have been to three birthday parties at Peninsula Gym and each time has been memorable and enjoyable for my son. I understand that there are two parties at the same time, but we always end up being at the same place. The kids get to do a gymnastics routine (parents can watch but do not participate) and then there is a party room (or two, we've always been in the same room) where you can bring snacks and cake. The gymnastics routine is fun and the kids really enjoy themselves and look forward to the next party.

I went to this school from 1st-3rd grade and loved it! My teachers were amazing. My brother was in the gifted program there and loved being able to interact with so many people. The principal, staff, and school are very nice. The campus has some great rules and scenery and lots of great places to play. They have a nice library as well that has lots of books, the ones needed for school and fun ones like Goosebumps.

I think the pricing is really reasonable. one of the main benefits is that the whole place is brand new and that they're working hard to make it as family-friendly as possible. the pools are great, especially now that the weather is getting nice to use the outdoor pools as well. one cool thing is that they have a separate kiddie pool that is completely surrounded by a closed gate.... then, you can also play with your kids in the other pools as well. the exercise equipment is also brand
new, and it is never too busy to use whatever equipment you want to. all of the cardio equipment have their own individual tvs that you just plug your headphones into. Childcare is $3 an hour and they have both an indoor area as well as an outdoor area with play equipment, sand and water tables, etc. the people who work there couldn't be nicer and they're always focusing on the children and what they want to do.

When you need to get music lessons on some sort of instrument, I say that you should go check out Lessons on B. Any private teacher is going to be quite costly now a days, but if you're looking for something fairly reasonable, I would suggest going to Lessons on B. They have a wide selection of teachers ready to show you the tricks of the trade and get you on your way. As with all music instruction, what its worth depends on YOU and if you're willing to commit. good luck!
PROS: nice people.
CONS: cost.

More
While looking for preschools for my son, I heard great things about Children's School from a co-worker of mine whose kids went there. I heard that getting in might be difficult (at the time, the registration was on a Saturday morning and people camped out to get a spot - I believe this has changed). Though I thought camping out at 4 am on a Saturday was insane, I'm glad I did it. Nancy Martin, the school's director, is such a warm and friendly woman who deeply cares about the students and makes everyone feel special. Her staff is great and it's a co-op, which keeps the price down and helps with the transition from toddlerhood to preschooler. It also keeps the adult/student ratio down and engenders great community. There is also a nursery for your younger/older kids who don't have school so you don't have to miss out! I can't wait until September when my daughter becomes a preschooler here!
