I love Ice Skating, and this ice-rink located in San mateo is great! It's a pretty big ice rink, I normally see a lot of hockey practice and club practice go on here, and when they open to the public it's fun and crazy! They usually have some good deals, look out for promotion, such as it is for summer time. I love that the place is pretty clean, the bleecher, is good and you can watch other people skate around. The store in here sells material for skaters, but you can always rent whatever you need! It's a great way to exercise and spend some quality time!

We love Bay Meadows! We held several horse law conferences here and the facilities couldn't be greater or the management more accommodating. Great facility with the longest history of uninterrupted horse racing in the state of California. If you're really a TB horseman, you may be able to get permission to see their private archives on TB horses, incl. Seabiscuit, who raced there. If you know nothing about racing, bet on the jockey Russell Baze, rather than a horse. My friends took my advice and didn't make a ton of money, but they came away in the plus column.

This is a very nice library to compared to some of the other run down libraries in the area. There is plenty of parking which always makes things easier. Inside the library is very clean and modern. Actually they have such a spacious area, that its great for group projects. Staff is very friendly and helpful. this is great place to visit to find that special book or magazine, or to get school work done.

These folks play a wide range of great jazz from all eras. They are independent and listener-supported, so in exchange for being asked for money four times a year (instead of every ten minutes all year long) you get no commercials and you get to hear tons of information and music that you'd never hear on a station that had to run according to some corporation's wishes. The DJs are really smart and know everything about what they play and the music is just good fun.

This small Baptist community church is warm, friendly and outgoing. We were welcomed with open arms, and invited to fellowship at lunch each week with the rest of the members. It is a very small church right now, only about 40-50 people, and not many kids. The grounds and building are well kept, and they hope to continue to grow in the future. They have children's lessons at 10am, regular service at 11am, lunch fellowship at 12pm, and adult Sunday school at 1pm.

CSM is a pretty good school compared to all the other junior colleges in the bay area. It sits on a hilly area of San Mateo that always has perfect weather. the campus is beautiful, very well mainatined and always filled with hustle and bustle. They have excellent programs that you can take to transfer you to a four year university. Great JC!

This agency moved fairly recently into a much larger and more private space, and now it's new and improved. There are lots of individual counselors, but also group counseling. They have groups for both adults as well as troubled teenagers. They offer a sliding scale, and accept most insurance also. The waiting room is lively, and they put cool toys out for the kids to play with, so it's family friendly too!

This is the place the elderly people end up when they have Alzheimer's and it's right down the street from me. They have a big sign on the door encouraging visitors, and people are always welcome to come in with a big plate of fresh baked cookies and make a bunch of old people smile. Nurses who work with this population are overworked and would probably appreciate some love from the oven too.
