I like going to Sheng Kee bakery to buy asian style baked goods. They have a variety of buns and cakes there. I would say that they are slightly pricey compared to other similar type of bakery but I still go there anyway. I love their cakes though, it's perfect for birthdays it's not too sweet but still very delicious.

This company makes cookie bouquets which are tasty and attractive. We have received a couple and they are beautiful but we also love the cookies. My favorites are the cinnamon, which are usually just one or two of the many cookies in the display. If you stop in they sell their cookies one by one, including non-decorated ones (and different flavors, like lemonade) for a lot cheaper.

I grew up on the east coast where a canoli isn't so rare as it is in California. But one day I discovered Dianda's at the Italian Festival Street Fair held each year in San Mateo. I was really surprised at the quality, size and value of the pastries, which are authentic and use real imported cheese. My favorites are the Tiramisu and the Mocha cake. I always stock up at the street fair, but there's a location in Crystal Springs Plaza as well.

Having studied French, I always want to call this place "Boo-dan", but they say to call it "Bo-deen". In any case, I've been going for years. I love their sourdough bread! My favorite meal is what they call the "best of Boudin" which is a half sandwich and half salad or half soup. I like to get the turkey cranberry sandwich (get it without the onions - they really stand out on this sandwich) with the tomato bread soup. This is tomato soup with their famous croutons. You can even get the half serving soup in a bread bowl for $1 extra, and it's worth it! They used to just give you a normal bread bowl, but now the top is slightly toasted and covered in pesto. Amazing! This location has some great staff (except for the guy who when I reminded him for no onions just took the onions off, which I could still taste on my sandwich -- honestly, I could have taken the onions off myself!) and a bathroom, which I just found out about recently. It's really convenient. And the best/healthiest food in the mall.
