Yankee Lanes offers large pin bowling (as opposed to candle pin bowling) and a lot of fun. They have a nice variety of ball sizes for those who don't own their own and well maintained lanes. Scoring is done by computer, and one that keeps better score than most that I've seen. Gutter bumpers are available for those with kids (or those who just can't bowl...) and there is plenty of seating around each lane. Yankee Lanes has a bar and concession stand, if you order something that takes a while to cook they'll even bring it to your lane for you. There is also an arcade with several video games, pool tables and an air hockey table. If you're looking to bowl on a Friday or Saturday night stop by for Galactic Bowling where you'll find black lights, strobes, a dj to keep you entertained and plenty of bowling extras to add to your experience (be prepared to pay more and wait for a lane though).

This is a great place for anyone who is looking for a laugh. I have been to the comedy connection quite a few times (mostly to see Bob Marley) and I have never been disappointed. I like how it is small, you do not have to worry about seeing the stage. The drinks and tickets are reasonably priced and the wait staff brought your orders quickly.

I love the Old Port section of Portland but my favorite part of any trip there is visiting Abacus. There is always some new beautiful thing to catch my eye or some stunning jewelry there and the staff do everything they can to make you feel welcome and bend over backwards to be helpful. I always know I'm going to have a great time in there even if I'm just killing time.

Without a doubt Videoport is my favorite video store in the world. It eclipses Video Underground in Jamaica Plain, MA. I like it better than any little indy store in New York. I love Videoport because of many things.
First, the staff. They are amazing. They will give you advice for movie to watch that are always completely spot on. I think you have to be psychic to work here. Second, the selection. It is mind numbing. You could watch a movie every day for 3 years and not see all of them. I’m sure of it. They have the best selection of cult classics I have seen in the Northeast, and just about everything you can think of is here.
The store used to deliver locally. This was a big bonus for me!
All in all I have to say this store rocks!! Even though I live in Boston, I still occasionally rent movies here on my way to my mom’s house and then return them on the way back to Boston.

I visited the Children's Museum of Maine with a group of 3 and 4 year olds. They had a splendid time. The Museum has several different areas. The kids seems to gravitate to the supermarket section of My Town. Both girls and boys alike enjoyed it. There is a huge variety of plastic foods and cash registers for the kids to check out at. The price of admission was something minimal like six dollars per child or something like that. This is a great spot to spend the morning, afternoon, or entire day with the kids. It is especially great for those rainy Maine afternoons.

The Nickelodeon is a great spot to catch a cheap flick. This movie theater has been around a long time, as you'll be able to tell as soon as you walk inside. Though the ambience isn't the greatest, the location, price, and movies are just fine. This is the place to go if you're looking to see a movie at less of a price than you'd pay at a normal theater. .

Wow! What a restaurant. You can get a wonderfully prepared appetizer, small portion, full entree, salad and dessert. The wine is served in a tumbler and the selection is impressive. All of the ingredients are fresh purchased locally when available. The staff is friendly and attentive; the atmosphere casual. Local 188 is definitely worh a visit. Located in the Arts District of Portland, a reservation is always a good idea.
