Fiesta Del Mar is a neighborhood mexican restaurant that doesn't serve average fair. So if you are looking for over-cheesed fried taquitos -- you won't get it there. If you are looking for great shrimp dishes, enchiladas and friendly service-- you've gone to the right place. They also have the best chicken soup! Their selection of margaritas and taquilas is extensive. This is a casual family restaurant. My hunch is that those who don't like it-- might be better off at El Torrito.

KoC is a neighborhood bar that just happens to be LGBT friendly. Ok - the place looks like poo - I'm a regular, but I'm not in denial. But the real reason to go to KoC is the people you meet there. I've made some wonderful friends in this bar, and seen total strangers come in and leave friends with half the bar by the end of the night.
The schedule can be a little erratic - most of the nights are Karaoke or Latin right now, but check the website to see on the particular night you're thinking of going. My boyfriend almost didn't meet me because he accidentally showed up on goth night (now defunct, but who knows - it could come back) - luckily he returned the next night :-)
So all in all - great drinks, great people, great karaoke. None of the bullpoop attitude you get at clubs in the city or in downtown San Jose (I'm looking at you, Hunters). Just a great mix of gay people, straights, trans, and bis hanging out and having fun.

Let me start by saying I live in south San Jose and the only Mexican food that my family will eat is Fiesta Del Mar Too, which is 30 minutes away.
The 3 main factors in are assessment, Quality, People and Quality.
The restaurant is VERY popular so go early if you want to sit right down, otherwise, take some time in the bar and learn about tequila's. Ask Roberto(the Manager) to help you learn about the history of tequila and some of his experiences touring the factories in Jalisco.
They have very traditional Mexican food as well as some of the newer generational styles. I have tried just about everything on the menu over the past 10 years and although I have enjoyed all that I have tried, I tend to prefer the meat dishes(Chili Verde, Carne Asada, Enjaccacado, etc). The meat is always very tasty and plentiful. Even their grilled New York steak would rival any steakhouse. My wife really enjoys the tortilla soup. My daughters usually order the waiters special. Ask your waiter what their favorite thing is and try it. Many times it isn't on the menu and you will have a new favorite food!
The staff there is extremely friendly and courteous. They keep the chips and salsa filled and the drinks fresh. Don't even think of ordering Jose Cuervo at this establishment. They only carry real 100% blue agave tequila (you may not know this but Cuervo is not technically tequila. It is like a grain alcohol with yellow food coloring).
As for the margaritas, WOW! I am a bit of a tequila/margarita snob and will not tolerate amateurs making my cocktail. Fresh Mexican limes, Fresh sweet and sour and a heavy-handed pour make a margarita you will never forget. Want a little kick; ask for the Herradura Blanco 92, rocks.
Go to this resturaunt and enjoy yourself. If you go in the prime eating times, enjoy the wait in the bar. You will meet some great people and try some great drinks. Try new foods on and off the menu. Do not order what you always get somewhere else.
Pros: Great food, great people and the best margarita's
Cons: Busy in prime times. Sit at the bar and enjoy the wait with a tequila snifter.

I don't know what the other folks are talking about, but this is a good place to hang out with your pals and get your dance on. DJ Dave is better than the other DJ there, so your best bet is to go on Thurs or Sat nights.
Pros: Plenty of Parking, Good Mix of Music, Low @ Door Charge

The Sports Page is a run-of-the-mill sports bar located on the corner of Shoreline Blvd and Plymouth St. in Mountain View.
It's a regular hangout for locals who like to grab a beer after work and watch baseball, football, or any other random game live on the 10 or so televisions they have in the bar. There's usually a good mix of local games playing, as well as stuff they beam off the satellite dish they have installed on the roof.
There is a large patio area outside, as well as a sand volleyball court at this bar. We've seen sketchy locals play on the court. There's also a dart board (someone is always playing) and a dance floor outside too (we've never seen a dance party at this place at all).
Drinks are average priced; beers costs $5-7 and a pitcher costs around $20.

This used to be called Fibbar Mcgee's, two doors down from Molly Mcgees.
They have dj dancing on the weekends.
Though the dance floor gets way too crowded to have much fun. You pretty much feel likeyou are standing and moving.
The drinks prices are very fair.
TY THEIR OATMEAL COOKIE. Wowza is it good, but lethal!
They have a huge screen in the back for watching games as well.
Great place to go for happy hour.

Ugly's is Mountain View is one of the local dive bars where lots of residents hang out and play pool.
It's truely a dive bar in the sense; the beers are cheap, most of the people there are locals, and you'll find all the random dive bar games including darts, dice, and cards.
The bar is not exactly clean, but it's got all the atmoshpere of a dive bar so if that is what you are looking for, Ugly's is the place to go.
It's located on El Camino Real next to a military surplus and liquor store.
