My experience with Town Fair Tire was a very positive one. I did some research on the internet before visiting the store. After choosing a specific brand and model of tire, I printed my selection and brought it to Town Fair to make my purchase. They did not have my specific tire in stock but they volunteered to order them for me without charge and even agreed to match the price of the tires I'd found online. My tires arrived shortly thereafter and Town Fair did the installations. I am very pleased with my experience and would highly recommend this location to anyone.

Being a business I was very disapointed in the service I recieved. They had young kids working behind th ecounter that didnt know alot about hadling customers. They were busy talking to others when customers were waiting inline. The job was not the best either. My car wasnt ready when promised and I ending up waiting so maybe they rushed to get oit done. I feel they could have done a much better job with detailing and sutomer service

Connecticut Car Care is a great place to go to get small repairs done on your car.
They have a 15 minute oil change service and the guys there check over your car while it's being done. They'll check the fluids, and top them off if needed. They'll also check your belts, tires and tire pressure.
At the end, they will recommend services that should be done, but they won't recommend services that don't. There aren't any high pressure tactics either. If you don't want them to flush the radiator if they ask, just say so. They won't whine or give you a guilt trip.
They also serve complimentary coffee, cafe mocha, and hot chocolate while you are waiting.
Great service and a pretty good price!

This Getty station is in a great location. It is accessible from both sides of the Dixwell Avenue split and there are more pumps than at most other local stations. It is rare that all of the pumps are full and if so, the traffic moves quickly. Gas prices here tend to be consistently lower than others in the surrounding area and do not fluctuate nearly as much as some I have seen. I tend to return to this station more than others for its reliable prices and service.

In the past 3 years of taking our 1991 Honda Accord to Mike's, I have been very satisfied with their service. Since I am no mechanic myself, I appreciate that if I tell them something sounds funny, they will ask questions to try to get better info from me before starting to look at things. They tell me when just opening something up will cost a bunch, they look at things that may well be figments of my imagination (and don't fix the left-handed grammus fleebus just because they think I want *something* fixed), and they treat me with respect.
My comparison is limited, as I've only taken the car to two other shops. Firestone on Dixwell is competent but a little superficial, and the other one* I just didn't like much.
*I'm not putting their name because it's not fair of me to put them down for just a vague dislike.

They have both a Hamden and North Haven branch. They have good service. They will drive you home or lend you a car if your car has to stay in the shop. Highly recommended: AAA emergency road service insurance. Their prices are reasonable and they are accomodating. I would recommend them as honest and hard working.
