Yuck! 9/24/2008

Don't even deserve a star! My husband and I were there once. I was then invited to a Baby Shower there. Crust is too thick, very little sauce and too much cheese. The salad bar is very run-of-the-mill and nothing to write home about. Also the staff were very stingy and arrogant when I asked for a larger cup for water on both visits. They were strict with their "rule" that, "larger cups can only be used for soda". Never Again! more

Not worth the Merry go Round 10/25/2005

While the Merry go Round is fun for the kids the pizza is so undesirable that it is not worth going there. The view is awesome, but the food is tasteless. They charge an arm and a leg to rent the party room. In my opinion go to Papas and have a free party room with a playground the kids enjoy as much as the Merry go Round. more

Take me to the River - Roaring Rapids Pizza Co 8/24/2005

Roaring Rapids is in the Glenwood area about midway between Eugene and Springfield, at 4006 Franklin Blvd. The restaurant sits well back from the road, behind the miniature golf site, Camp Putt. They recently added delivery service, which includes Beltline Rd to the North, Patterson St to the West, LCC to the South and 58th St to the East in Springfield. An individual pizza and salad bar with drink deal is well priced at $5.79 during the lunch hour. The salad bar is usually well stocked and fresh. The pizza, last time I was there, is OK. It was disappointing to have what looked and tasted like canned mushrooms on top. But if you are looking for pepperoni, Hawaiian or taco toppings, you'll be fine here. The crust is also not my favorite, but that's always personal preference. The crust (which, in my opinion is critical to good pizza) seems a little bland and lacking texture to me. There are three winning features of this place. First, a fairly recent remodel resulted in a fresh, lighter look (love the knotty pine!) There is ample room for several large groups to enjoy the space. Sports teams and birthday parties often fill the rooms. Second is the carousel that kids can ride for free. This is a long-time feature of past pizzerias, and it is a charming attraction that I'm glad they kept. Third, but actually most important, is the beautiful river view from this location. Afternoons and early evenings outside are really a pleasure. There is nothing like a slice of pizza pie and a cold beer while enjoying the great outdoors... more

Poor Pizza 8/21/2005

Roaring Rapids Pizza is a large restaurant that is usually quite empty. I think this is because the pizza is lousy. The location is excellent with a riverside patio. They also have free rides on an old merry go round and an entertainment room filled with games including a air hockey table. This would be a great place if they changed their pizza. more
