The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a fun place to visit with kids. The grounds are spread out and there is a lot of playground equipment and activity-type things to do throughout the zoo for little kids. The paved areas are very stroller friendly and they feature several snackbar locations for when the kids get the munchies far away from the zoo’s entrance. Be sure to check out the special Christmas event “Zoo Lights” when the zoo is decorated with Christmas light displays of animals. Zoo Lights is also fun because you get to see many of the animals after dark and it is a different place/experience at night versus being there during the day. It can get cold walking around at night so be sure you bundle everyone up.

Okay .. well, does my 30 year old daughter count as a "kid?" Probably not to most but she is still MY KID. And what I am going to write about is that had she been able to find a college/school like CollegeAmerica in Colorado Springs, she probably would have finished college right out of high school. Unfortunately, there was nothing like that available at that time. She ended up going two semesters at a local community college but I guess she wasn't ready at that time. She ended up getting married at 20 and that lasted 8 years and then she moved back in with us. (I love having her but I know it is probably not good for her but she can not afford to live on her own YET.) I say "yet" because this January she will graduate from CollegeAmerica after only 15 months, with an AA and up to 8 certifications in "Medical Specialties." She had no money to do this and we're taking care of her financially. The school helped her get student loans as well as getting other grants, and Pell Grant, making it feasible for her to do this. Six months after her graduation she will start paying off her student loan which will amount to about $160.00 a month. They will also help locate her into a job in the medical field. I have to brag, she is carrying a 3.99 gpa and has perfect attendance. What I like about this school, is that they attend 4 weeks, taking only two courses. That 4 weeks is called a "module." There are 15 modules that they complete. By having only two course during that 4 weeks, they are able to concentrate on those two and know that the next 4 weeks will be something entirely different. It's been great for her. They go into school at 8:30 and get out at 2:00. Makes for a shorter day. And they have every Friday, plus the weekends off.

Xiang's Kitchen easily has some of the best chinese food in town. Delivery is extremely quick. Eating there, it is always pretty quiet and never crowded, which we love. Prices are very reasonable and the food is always good. Best Sesame Chicken in town.

You just can't go wrong ordering ANYTHING from Chipotle's. My favorite is the chicken with black beans, corn and hot chiles or something along those lines. It has been a few years since I have been able to eat there. I can't find anything like it on the East coast!
I love the chips and guacamole also! Yummy!
Enjoy one for me when you can!

My family and I have been to this restaurant on numerous occassions. We love it. They do serve large portions, but its great for the money. The food is excellent, they give you little animal shaped cups of crayons for the kids. The kids can color on their Elephant Bar coloring pages, and then they can take the glasses off and pretend to be an animal. Its very cute and lively too. There are animal decorations everywhere. The bar looks like one large palm tree. My husband and I shared a shrimp platter and it was superb. They give you grilled shrimp, with just the right seasonings, breaded shrimp, that is just to die for, and a coconut shrimp, the coconut shrimp dipped in the sweet sauce they gave us was excellent. Just the right amount of everything. And the shrimp they gave us were large. The perfect size! But my absolute favorite thing of all is their Fudge Fudge Walnut Brownie. Its gigantic and at the perfect price. It comes loaded with the walnut brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream, lots of whipped cream with chocolate shavings and walnuts on top, and then a cherry to top it off. You can't get much better. The service there is great, never had bad service. The only thing is, since its the only one in the springs, if you go at rush hour, you will have quite a wait, so go early, enjoy the food, enjoy the drinks, and have fun!!!

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Colorado Springs. The price is no more than any other high-quality sushi restaurant. The portions are good sized - not all rice & no fish - and everything is always very fresh. There is a good selection of rolls, and they will work with you to make whatever you come up with as well. Jun's is nice also, but I'm equal distance to there and to AI, and my car always heads for AI.

We will stay here and pass out candy to how ever many neighborhood kids show up. All of what I had planned is now not happening. I went with my daughter to THE PARTY STORE yesterday to pick up some things for our Women's Day Out Event this Saturday. Also, she is throwing a bridal shower AND then a bachelorette party for a friend; the shower in two weeks and a "Slumber Party" the week before the wedding. I was amazed at the great things they have in this Party Store. I've been to many party stores and this by far, was one of THE BEST. It just so happened that the color of plates, napkins, plastic ware etc. were 50% off. Glad the bride chose those colors. We also picked up some beautiful invitations and thank you notes. When we moved from FL I also had put my old melmaline(sp) turkey platter in the garage sale and I needed a new one. They had one there that wasn't exactly what I wanted but it is melmaine (sp) and brightly colored stripes of brown, orange and yellow, more of a Fall platter but it looks very nice. And because of the Avon and the jewelry that will be here we had also chosen a soft pink and a darker pink .. "Diva" she calls it .. to decorate with. Then I went to the Halloween aisle. Wow. Great costumes etc. But we are not doing costumes. What I did buy were some little tiny plastic pumkins and I came home and filled them with little tootsie rolls, bubble gum, and lollipops. My original idea was to give out mini Snickers so that is no longer happening. And of course, we will be watching "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." I watched it last year with them for the first time. I had never watched it before because I thought it was scarey. LOL It's a HOOT.
