Doctors of Death 2/24/2014

My Story-Pass it On-Save Lives…… On 12/23/13 I took my dog to Parma Animal Hospital after she slipped on tile and pulled a muscle in her back leg. She was a happy, healthy 7 year old with a sore leg. I took her and they said I would have to leave her for x-rays. They neglected to inform me or get my permission to sedate her for the x-rays. I only found out when I called later that day when I called to pick her up and they said I couldn’t because she wasn’t’ out of the sedation. Called next day, they said I could pick her up. Went in, first thing they presented to me was the bill which I paid with my credit card. Only after the bill was paid did they allow me to see her. Shock is an understatement. She was completely paralyzed and crying. I asked why, and Dr. Tulodzieski said he didn’t know why. He’s the vet-he’s supposed to know. I’m sure he knew-because he was responsible for what happened to her. He dragged her out with a towel around her belly like a sack of potatoes and said she couldn’t go home. The day after Xmas he called and said she was DEAD! I asked why and how my 7 yr old baby could die from a sprained leg? He just kept dancing around an answer saying she was a nice dog, they all liked her etc. Again-total shock. He said they had a service that would take care of her body. After the shock lessened I thought of why he wouldn’t give me a legitimate cause of death-because he screwed up and he killed her. This is also why he wanted to get rid of the body so quickly and have this service take care of it. I saved her from a shelter, couldn’t save her from her own vet. I disputed the charge with my credit card company-I wasn’t going to pay for them to kill my baby. The office lady, Peg, called on ago 2/11/14 and wanted to know why I was disputing the charge. I explained why and got no argument-verification they know they killed her. Then she said, Oh by the way, what do you want us to do with her body? OMG! I was told way back on 12/26/13 the service they use was taking ca more

Heartbreak 1/5/2014

Took my happy, healthy 7 year old dog to them because she slipped on the tile and strained her leg. They said they would take xrarys and let me know. Next day they said I could come and get her. 15 min to get there and by that time she was paralized in both legs. I asked why and they could not explain-wisked her away and told me I couldn't take her home. The day after xmas they called and told me she died. No reason why. My heart is broken and I hope and pray she did not suffer. Once they are out of your site-who knows what these killers do. My heart is broken-this business should not be in business. Run the other way and don't let them touch your beloved pet more

Best vets! 10/24/2012

I have never gone to another vet and have been going here since I was a child. Then I worked for them after HS. I have seen other vets in the field do terrible jobs or come to PAH for assistance. Someone commented that they were left in the dark? I ASSURE you that you were not. You were advised of everything on the day you brought you dog in and scheduled the appointment. You never know what you're going to come up against during a surgery, dental or not. I'm sure there are plenty of people/animals whose teeth look fine when in fact they're not. You said run down and unprofessional? Where are you taking your dogs??? That place is disinfected EVERY NIGHT, I know, I used to do it...hated having to, but did it! Disinfected after every dog accident too. All kennels are scrubbed out and disinfected every morning before they open, regardless if an animal was in the cage within the last 24 hours, I know, I did their kennels too! Presciptions for everything? I don't think so; they're not there to gouge people and you can always ask for them to write out a script so you can get it cheaper elsewhere. I will not take my animals anywhere else. I don't know what I'll do when they're gone. I love those guys! more

I Would Highly Recommend 7/30/2010

I had one dog for aproximately 8 years before I took in another dog who desperately needed a home. One day they had quite an altercation and the big one bit the little one on the ear. When I got home from work, I could tell the ear was quite infected. My vet was open that night but I was told that they were fully booked and the only thing I could do was bring my little guy in and leave him all night. They would look at him the next day. (He would have been miserable all night and I guess I would have had to pay for the overnight accomodations) I called Parma Animal Hospital and they told me to bring him in. I was so happy they agreed to see him and was extremely impressed with the care they gave him that I decided to change vets. Last year, my big guy had a heart problem. The vet was completely honest with me that this was bad but they did everything they could to help him. My precious big guy passed away at home in my arms. I have never been treated with as much kindness and understanding as I was that day by the staff of Parma Animal Hospital when I had to bring him in. I hope Parma Animal Hospital is around for as long as I am able to take care of animals because I never want use anyone else. more

I was left in the dark! 3/26/2009

My dog has a severe case of gingivitis. I took him to Parma Animal Hospital to have it looked at. The docs told me he was going to have at least one of his teeth pulled and that they needed a cleaning. That was fine by me. Money is tight in my house and being only 21 years old so I was really looking at the price for this which I was quoted 180-250 dollars depending on how many teeth they would actually need to pull or how difficult they were to get out. When we got to the vets the doctor just took my dog and said to check up on him in a few hours. He told me nothing of what exactly was going to be done nor did he tell me how many teeth they needed to pull. I was VERY unsatisfied with the way they treated me. I was left in the dark. I did NOT want them doing any treatment on my dog that I was not confronted with first. They only told me one tooth needed to be pulled and they didn't know if there were anymore they had to wait till the got in there to check it out and probably without my saying could have pulled an extra tooth or two that may have been alright . I don't understand why they couldn't just look at the rest of his teeth and tell me that. They do a good job in their work but they are very sneaky. I took him for a knot on his head once and the charge was 30 bucks... they tried to prescribe pain killers for a simple little bruise. Each time I have gone for a simple check up they have tried giving me some kind of medicine for ALL sorts of things. THATS how they make their money. Their prices sound good but they want to give prescriptions for anything and everything they can. I am a concerned pet owner. I want to know what is going to be done with my pet in great detail. I didn't appreciate how they just took my dog and explained NOTHING to me. I promise I will not be going back to Parma Animal Hospital AGAIN! My dog will be visiting a new Vet the next time around. The place looks a bit run down and unprofessional anyway. more

Awesome veterinary clinic! 8/15/2005

Parma Animal Hospital has been around forever, and I think it's one of the best kept secrets among pet owners. This quaint little clinic provides some of the best veterinary care in the northeast Ohio area, and for the most reasonable prices I've ever seen. I've been taking my dogs and cats to Dr. Nash and Dr. T for most of my life. The care is top notch, and the clinic provides a full range of services. We're all attached to our pets, and we don't want to feel "cheap" when it comes to providing medical care, but I think a lot of clinics take advantage of that fact. Parma Animal Hospital knows you love your pets and does NOT take advantage of this. The prices are more than reasonable, and they present a full range of options when diagnosing your pet. The vets and the staff are great with all animals and you can tell they genuinely love what they do, and they want you and your pet to feel comfortable. The office is nothing fancy - so don't expect a doggy day spa. The hours are great (they even have Saturday hours), and the vets are quick to recommend home remedies as alternatives to expensive veterinary medications, if they are available AND appropriate. more
